I found this hotel to be a great value given the location (Union square) and what you get - a great lobby, nice rooms,etc. I would have given it 5 stars, but for a few minor annoyances in the room - the lighting is a bit too dark, the closet small and the door doesn't close, etc.

Great location and comfortable beds ! I picked this location because it was central. It worked well. The hotel itself was great. The only thing was the noise from the street but the hotel had ear plugs in the room for that.

Flagship stores ring Union Square, among the vanguard of West Coast retail. Chinatown begins at Grant Avenue and Bush Street, while Gold Rush-era mansions crown Nob Hill. South of Union Square, the convention center area includes the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art and Yerba Buena Center for the Arts. Cable cars turn around at Powell and Market streets to head back to Fisherman's Wharf.
