My husband and I are light sleepers, so it's rare to find a hotel in the middle of a big city where we can get a good night's rest. This hotel's rooms have excellent sound-proofing (at least on the side away from the street) and our room was so quiet! The combo of day curtains + blackout curtains were also a huge help. Staff were friendly and the doorman/security always had the door open for us while helping us feel safe. The rooms are very European - ie, tiny but with ingenious design that manages to fit everything you need in that small space. The only drawbacks are that if you are a couple, oner person has to climb over the other every time they want to get out of the bed. Also, there's only a duvet and no top sheet, so if you sleep hot (like us) you'll be very sweaty or uncomfortably bare of any covering.

Absolutely amazing location with transit everywhere, it's hard to imagine a better location to stay in. The room was small but quite private, very well ventilated (especially the small bathrooms, exceptional ventilation), comfortable, and with nice features like motorized curtains. Exceptional convenience with a BART/MUNI station right on the same block. Parking is not available, but the parking garage next door was convenient enough for it to not matter (around $45 a night with a 72 hour limit)

San Francisco Trip

We had a fantastic stay at citizenM in San Francisco. The staff was incredibly friendly and welcoming from the moment we arrived. Breakfast was excellent, with plenty of fresh and tasty options to start the day right. The common living area was one of my favorite parts — modern, cozy, and perfect for relaxing or hanging out after exploring the city. The rooms are definitely on the small side, but they’re smartly designed and have everything you need. We didn’t spend much time in them anyway, so it wasn’t an issue. Overall, I’d highly recommend citizenM for anyone looking for a stylish, comfortable, and well-run hotel in the heart of San Francisco.

We love citizen M hotels, this one didn’t disappoint. Only reason for the 4 star is location. Not a terrible location, but right in the middle. Go two block one way and you are in a different world (tenderloin), go the other way and it’s very nice. But overall amazing experience and great hotel!

Citizen M was a perfect fit for our trip to San Francisco and our stay in Union square. It is a unique concept and was unlike any other Hotel experience I've ever had and I plan to stay in citizen m hotels in other cities going forward. The rooms are small but high tech and just right for two people the staff was all knowledgeable and efficient and friendly. And the decor was unique and fun. We did not try the food this time but the coffee was excellent. The bed was firmer than I'm accustomed to but it was actually quite comfortable and my chronic back pain vanished.

Friendly and helpful staff at this location. My favorite thing was the unforgettable view on the rooftop! Everything was sparkly clean, comfortable bed, refillable water station in the lobby & gym.
