We've stayed here before for one night only while we were in town. It's a great spot if you're gonna be downtown since its close to Uber wherever you have to go. And it's right off the 101. Love the decor and the staff there, both times.

My wife I just got back home from staying at the Los Angles Athletic Club (LAAC) for 7 days and 6 nights. Overall I was very impressed with LAAC. It was a great place to start the day and end the day. The fitness center is excellent. Lot's of equipment and the amenities such as pool, steam room, sauna, Jacquie, towels, and free lockers allowed for a great workout each morning. The room was smaller than I expected but we did not spend much time in the room so it did not bother us. The breakfast buffet was outstanding. We did not rent a vehicle as we used metro to get to Santa Monica, Hollywood, Universal Studios, Dodgers Game, and to LA Live. The hotel is about two blocks from the 7th St Metro station. It cost us 25 dollars for a 7 day metro card. I hope this reviews helps in your decision.

If you are looking for apartment-like setting, this is a decent option.
It feels like you own your own condo in downtown LA.
There are drawbacks, however
a. they don't clean your room- you are on your own
b. they don't even bring you clean dry towel UNLESS you call and ask for it
c. lack onsite good restaurants- you gotta drvie to somewhere else to eat
so, if you want a nice hotel service look elsewhere. if you are looking for a private home like environment- it's nice... but as you would be in your own place, you are kind of on your own. not much service out there

Vagabond is a clean motel within walking distance of LA. Wi-fi was in bad shape when I stayed. Breakfast is basic (bagel, cereal, fruit juice, coffee) but does the trick. I stay there because it is within walking distance of USC and much cheaper than the Radisson, which is closer to USC and somewhat better quality --but is also used for student housing.
