"Excellent location!"
We loved the location, hotel is old but redone ( like almost all of them downtown) and was comfortable and clean. Staff goes out of their way to accommodate any request and were very helpful with recommendations of traveling and sightseeing. We walked everywhere from the hotel as car parking is a challenge downtown, Attached restaurant next door was very good as well if you don't want to venture far, but if you're willing to walk the city is full of excellent restaurants, lounges, wine bars etc.

Staff was friendly and helpful. Room/bathroom are cozy but what you would expect from hotel room in the middle of the city. It was enough space to move around and the bed was so cozy!

Monarch Hotel

"Cheap 'n' cheerful hotel, "interesting" area"
The Monarch is at the edge of the Tenderloin and across the street from a community assistance centre, so you'll be sharing street space with some interesting neighbours who occasionally make a bit of a racket but seem fairly harmless. I was by myself, so I didn't go out late at night, not even to the AMC Van Ness 14 movie theatre conveniently located in the same block as the Monach. However, I had no problems walking up and down the hill from the Civic Center BART, even around 8-ish at night. In fact, most of the people I met on the #19 and #38/#38R buses were quite friendly and helpful. The hotel itself is fairly inexpensive, especially for SF, and very clean -- and it's a lot nicer than many lower-priced hotels I've stayed at in SF and other cities. There are some excellent places to eat nearby, including House of Thai on Geary and Larkin ($14 for delicious yum nua and Thai ice coffee), Brenda's French Soul Food at Polk and Eddy (go around 1:30 or 2 on a weekday and you won't have to wait), and Mel's Diner (terrific breakfasts).

Axiom Hotel San Francisco

28 Cyril Magnin Street, San Francisco - Map
"Clean, contemporary hotel rooms"
While the room wasn't large it felt a lot more spacious due to simple furnishings, the barndoor to the bathroom and even the wood floor. Room was quiet and I really liked the filtered water and ice dispensers in the hallway. Felt very clean without being sterile. Cafe in the lobby has a pretty simple but nice menu for dinner, it was a little confusing on whether you could only seat at the bar or at the other seats in the lobby.

"Basic stay"
My friend and I stayed here for 3 nights after a roadtrip up the coast of CA. The hotel is located in Nob Hill area. There are great restaurants walking distance. We ate at Boroburdur (Indonesian) and Thai Stick. The hotel is 15 minutes walking distance from Union Square where there is a lot of shopping and about 10 minutes from the cable cars that can take you to the Fisherman's Wharf. The room was a bit on the smaller side but it was enough for two of us. It is renovated on the inside. Breakfast in the morning was good: bread, waffles, cereal, fruit, coffee and tea. At night there can be bums walking on the streets or the smell of pee during the day, however, it is not a dangerous

Tenderloin is calling — find the perfect hotel

Everyone wants to score a deal on travel, but price is just one factor to consider when booking an unforgettable hotel. Whether you’re visiting family, attending a conference or taking a well-earned vacation in Tenderloin, having an awesome experience should be a no-brainer.

Hotwire will hook you up! From restful nights near your flight to that prime spot in the city’s heart, we’ve done our research to bring the best options to your fingertips. Book your Tenderloin hotel with us now and start your next adventure.

You’re not the average traveler — and we know it

You’ve done your homework and know exactly where you want to go. We’re here to help with some Hotwire travel geek-approved tips on how to save on your booking.

    Get away for the weekend

Hotels in bigger cities usually charge higher rates during the week, when people are traveling for business. Weekends can be a bargain! It’s the other way around for vacation spots, so if you’re looking for a beach escape, consider a mid-week trip.

    Give yourself some wiggle room

If your plans are flexible, play around with some different travel dates – a shift of a few days either way can help you save big. Prices usually jump the weekends before and after popular holidays, so we recommend steering clear of them. Or consider visiting during the off-season, when prices are generally lower.

    Plan around big events

Are prices surprisingly high? There might be a huge conference or festival in town. Consider shifting your dates if you can. Of course, if that’s why you’re going, you’ll have to bite the bullet. We’ll still work to get you the best rates out there.

    Noodle over new adventures

Set aside time to plan what you want to see, taste and discover. Nothing completes a trip, big or small, like a few new experiences! Check city apps or area websites to find out what’s new and what events are happening during your stay. Even during a family reunion, you can detour to that locals-only fish taco stand or under-the-radar music club. Your cousins will be impressed.
