Amazing! I have now stayed at 2 Iberostar Grand hotels and they simply cannot be beat. I'll layout what I thought were the pros and cons.
Grounds are beautiful & safe. Rooms are pristine.
Food is better than other all inclusives. Try the Taqueria in the shopping center if you get tired of the buffet.
Employees are super friendly and helpful.
Beach is beautiful. Soft sand, crystal clear water. Plenty of towels and chairs by pools / beach. Guys come around to take drinks.
Options for everyone. Many food options, activity options, quiet pool if you are not into activities.
Restaurants-- all require a reservation. Upon arrival we were told (both trips) that nearly every restaurant was booked. By "booked" they mean about 50/60% full. Your 2nd best option is to eat at their next level down hotel Maya next door, which is not as nice. If I pay extra to stay in the Grand, I'd like to eat at the Grand. We luckily discovered that the tacos at La Taqueria are delicious. I recommend trying to e-mail a week or 2 before your trip to make restaurant reservations. There is a good chance you might not receive a reply though.
Star Friends: These people are in charge of hotel activities. They mean well, but a few were borderline harassing guests on the beach and in the lobby bar. People want to relax. Nobody wants to say "no thanks" 12x to volleyball or that night's show.
Overall though, fantastic resort. I highly recommend it!!

Nice resort, all amenities, good food but keep in mind restaurants only at night, no buffet and there is a dress code. Good food, nice beach with a lot of huts for a shade, also a few pools if that is your thing. Rooms are big and clean, within a bathroom everything is divided by glass doors ( not a see through glass but still something to keep in mind). Would come back

Artisan is very nicely appointed, from the open concept enterance to luxury spa-like rooms. The place definitely sets you at ease.
All the hotel rooms are entered from the west with full wall sliding glass doors out to the patios/balconies facing east (towards the ocean)...or the pool if you are on ground floor. Unfortunately, ground floor rooms don't have direct access to the pool (unless you want to climb over the railings). To this day I am shocked the architect designed this place with ground floor rooms- no one wants to look out their full wall windows and see people eating at the restaurant- even further people at the restaurant don't want to look in at you while they are eating. I recommend to request rooms above the ground floor at the time of booking. Your experience will be much better.
I would not recommend this hotel for anyone other than couples because the showers are full glass. They are amazing btw.
Artisan also has a lovely infinity pool with first come-first serve cabanas. The roof has a couple more cabanas and a nice view. The roof top bar and restaurant is unfinished.
The food was above average and service was hospitable and friendly. However, service for food and drinks can be obnoxiously slow.
The drive to the hotel off of the main road is littered with potholes, so be careful if you are driving.
Overall, we had a great experience and if you can deal with a few imperfections this place is worth it

In April, my husband and I had the absolute pleasure of staying at The Belmond Maroma. From the moment of our arrival, this resort anticipated and fulfilled our every need and more. From the welcoming margaritas on arrival to offering me a hair tie from a beautiful wooden box at dinner on a windy evening, the staff could not have made us feel more special. They truly made us feel that it was their pleasure to be of service to us.

"Nice hotel in a very quiet section of Riviera Maya"
Nice boutique hotel. Food was great but a limited selection on the menu and food service was slow. Housekeeping kept the room very clean each day. There was a problem with the hot water during our visit that they are repairing. The hotel manager did everything he could to make our stay comfortable. Although we had some issues, I would recommend this hotel to other travelers looking for something off the beaten path. Get a rental car and go explore. Puerto Morelos is a 15 minute drive and they have some wonderful restaurants.

This is our 3rd time here over the last 10 years. Parts are showing age but to their credit they are repainting/repairing rooms, at least they were in the building we were in, and the vast majority of the resort looks very nice. No complaints. Our maids took care of us very well, we got to eat dinner at all the restaurants we wanted when we wanted and anything we asked for we received. We saw the Cirque show at a resort nearby. Hadn't seen one before and didn't know what to expect. Fantastic show. Suggest not doing the dinner and just do the appetizers. Book it early. We barely got in the last day we were there.

We had a wonderful time. We were a group of 13 (9 Adults and 2 Children). The staff was amazing and the kids club was fantastic! Our kids love the activities. Only negative - I wish the staff could wear lighter & cooler clothes, it was extremely hot and we just felt bad for them. Too hot for suits. We recommend to all! Great vacation!!!

Most of the staff was very friendly with the exception of a few in the specialty restaurants. Some of the restaurants could be managed a little bit better the wait staff was slow and not very attentive to your needs

Between the quite fishing village of Puerto Morelos and the lively international scene in Playa del Carmen lies the Maroma area. Undeveloped white-sand beaches provide a tranquil escape from the crowds, and off-shore reefs offer plenty of interesting terrain for snorkeling.
