"Beautiful old hotel & convenient downtown location"
We thoroughly enjoyed our visit to the Benson! The staff was friendly & helpful. Our room was nicely decorated & well appointed. The location was within walking distance to most downtown Portland attractions & restaurants. We enjoyed wine tasting on Friday & Sat afternoons & jazz music in the lobby in the evening. We would definitely recommend this hotel & look forward to our next visit.

Overall experience is pretty good - helpful staff and clean rooms. I like the complimentary slippers -
nice touch! The hotel looks dated on the outside but is renovated inside. The hotel parking lot is monitored regularly by staff, which is great. I liked having easy access to public transit to get to the Oregon Zoo, Children's Museum and other attractions.
If you're planning to stay at this hotel, then my recommendations to you are:
- Bring your own pillow if you can. The hotel pillows are fluffy at the start but as the night progresses it becomes flat as a pancake.
- Avoid the "waterfront" view room because you'll be next to a busy street. The whole night we heard cars driving by, cars honking & screeching tires, people yelling on the streets and some drivers who like to have a full on concert in their car!
- There's a draft coming from the window, so dress warm when you go to bed. The duvet blanket is nice and puffy, but it doesn't quite fit the bed right so it slips off the bed.

I enjoyed staying at the Dossier Hotel very much. The hotel is well located and the room was comfortable. However, at checkout they added $23 a night to my bill for a "facilities fee." This was to cover the "complimentary coffee," the "complimentary cocktail," water in the lobby, and the gym, I was told by the desk staff. They might want to check the definition of "complimentary." So, the Expedia price I paid was for the room and the hotel charged me extra for everything outside the room. This extra charge really sullied the experience. I would much rather have had that 23$ included in the original price.

Known for its diverse cuisine, boutiques galore, and ample green space, this area reaches eastward from the Willamette River. Peninsula Park hosts the circus-themed Cirque du Cycling street fair each year. Eclectic shops mingle with ethnic eateries in the Hollywood District. Other draws include Powell Butte Nature Park, Lower Burnside’s hip Doug Fir Lounge, and the Beverly Cleary Sculpture Garden.
