"Love the Pineapple!! "
The location was exactly what we were hoping for.... walked everywhere. I have only visited Portland on business and this was the first time I was there as a tourist and it was amazing. The staff at the hotel are amazingly helpful and if you want to go someplace close you can borrow a bike or take the Pineapple Express. Stop it!! :) Can't wait to stay again...

The hotel is fabulous. Great service, great location. My only knock is there is no microwave in the room.

"Fun hotel"
I've stayed here three times and love the vibe of this place. Huge rooms all with a wonderfully upbeat mid-century modern feel. The theme echoes through the entire hotel. The streetcar has a stop right on the corner so it is an easy trip to get downtown. As a bonus the hotel has free passes for guests. There is also a low key but vibrant neighborhood shopping district in easy walking distance for a good choice of restaurants. The continental breakfast is fairly average but wine-tasting Wednesday was a nice surprise. If you are a light sleeper you should request not to be on the first floor street side as the streetcar runs into the night.

"Perfect location "
Perfect location in downtown Portland. Close to everything. Nice rooms. Great service. Try Swank restaurant for any meal, especially breakfast. The duck confit hash is delicious, and the almond crusted brioche French toast is amazing. They deliver hot, fresh house-made donuts with orange glaze to your table as an appetizer. Nice way to wake up and start the day before you head out to explore Portland.

"Comfy, close, clean and courteous"
The beds are super comfortable, although if you don't like big fluffy pillows (like me), bring your own. The hotel is close to everything and practically across the street from the convention center. The hotel and rooms are spotless and the housekeeping staff seem to work 24-7 so if you run out of anything, they are literally there in seconds. And the staff are SO lovely. I will definitely be staying here again.

"Birthday Getaway"
A return trip for an extended weekend. We have stayed at the Sentinel on several occasions. The staff are professional yet friendly and always ready to assist whether it be directions or reservations. We had a second floor corner suite (223) on the older 'side'. Spacious and clean. Street/traffic noise audible but not excessive. Free Wifi but connectivity was poor (slow, dropped) for the duration of stay. This has not been an issue on prior visits where we had rooms on the newer part of the hotel. Minor cosmetic issues due to wear and tear are noticeable but do not significantly detract from the experience. Access to in room safe could be significantly improved by relocating to opposite side of closet.

"a reasonably priced surprise in Portlandia"
We arrived on a rainy evening to a very pleasant front desk staff. We have always stayed on the west side of the River but decided to try the east side. After having seen prices at the traditional hotels we decided to give the east side a chance. We were pleasantly surprised. The hotel has a few worn features but free parking, complimentary coffee in the room and a convenient location all made this business trip to Portland just what we were looking for.

    Explore Portland

So hip it inspires parody, Portland has become synonymous with alternative cool. Fortunately, the left-of-center attitude, dedication to green spaces and off-the-charts-amazing food and beer that draw people here keep getting better. Do your part to keep it weird by eating maple bacon doughnuts one minute and cheering on naked bike riders the next.

But Portland is more than just an urban freak fest. Head to the Pearl District where young professionals sip happy-hour cocktails next to boutique art galleries, or stroll Forest Park and the city’s famous rose gardens. Just outside city limits is the Columbia Gorge, a magical, moss-covered fairyland of massive waterfalls, walking trails and vistas over the mighty Columbia River. Slightly farther, pyramid-shaped Mount Hood beckons skiers, hikers and anglers.

Yes, it rains a lot in winter, but with an abundance of second-run movie theaters, live music venues and Powell’s Books (the world’s largest independent book store), there’s plenty to do. Summers are glorious – you’ll see lots of tattoos when the hibernators emerge to enjoy the weather.
