My sister and I stayed here and LOVED IT! Great value considering its downtown basically on the waterfront. The staff is friendly and free bike rental is great! We got to explore the city and stay in an awesome place.

"Great hotel, very central"
We really enjoyed our stay. Our criteria was to have a central location, clean hotel that was pet friendly. Hotel Modera lived up to and surpassed our expectations. The restaurant had very high quality local ingredients that where prepaid to a high standard. The hotel was very dog friendly from the time we entered to the time we left; a very important quality we look for. We will definitely stay again when we are in Portland.

"Fun hotel"
I've stayed here three times and love the vibe of this place. Huge rooms all with a wonderfully upbeat mid-century modern feel. The theme echoes through the entire hotel. The streetcar has a stop right on the corner so it is an easy trip to get downtown. As a bonus the hotel has free passes for guests. There is also a low key but vibrant neighborhood shopping district in easy walking distance for a good choice of restaurants. The continental breakfast is fairly average but wine-tasting Wednesday was a nice surprise. If you are a light sleeper you should request not to be on the first floor street side as the streetcar runs into the night.

    Explore Portland

So hip it inspires parody, Portland has become synonymous with alternative cool. Fortunately, the left-of-center attitude, dedication to green spaces and off-the-charts-amazing food and beer that draw people here keep getting better. Do your part to keep it weird by eating maple bacon doughnuts one minute and cheering on naked bike riders the next.

But Portland is more than just an urban freak fest. Head to the Pearl District where young professionals sip happy-hour cocktails next to boutique art galleries, or stroll Forest Park and the city’s famous rose gardens. Just outside city limits is the Columbia Gorge, a magical, moss-covered fairyland of massive waterfalls, walking trails and vistas over the mighty Columbia River. Slightly farther, pyramid-shaped Mount Hood beckons skiers, hikers and anglers.

Yes, it rains a lot in winter, but with an abundance of second-run movie theaters, live music venues and Powell’s Books (the world’s largest independent book store), there’s plenty to do. Summers are glorious – you’ll see lots of tattoos when the hibernators emerge to enjoy the weather.
