"Cute but loud"
Awakened in the middle of the night and before 6 am both mornings of our vacation by rude, loud neighbors. The hotel staff even called them to try and get them to be quiet but that didn't help. We were not asked how our stay was when checking out so the didn't want to hear any concerns. Running up and down the halls and yelling by adults in most nice places would get you kicked out.

"Great location "
Nice hotel, close to everything also great restaurants located at the hotel. The rooms are very nice but the elevators are slow and confusing. Oh the bathroom floors are cold but really it's nice and very cozy. Definitely will stay here again.

"Beautiful hotel in the heart of Portland."
Unfortunately I only spent one night in this lovely hotel. The lobby of The Benson is spectacular, the staff are very helpful, considerate and kind. Check in, valet parking were a breeze. The rooms are well maintained, the bathrooms are modern. We arrived in Portland mid-afternoon which allowed time for a brief stroll, before settling on a lovely restaurant on the waterfront for happy hour and dinner. The hotel is very close to the food truck park, multiple restaurants, cinemas, the water front and associated markets.

"Terrific staff, great location"
We stayed in a double room with a city view. My only complaint was that it felt cramped going to the bathroom door, which was also the sliding door to the small closet. Free coffee, creamer in the fridge, free waters, nice bedding, soft beds, updated bathroom, overall very clean and comfortable.

"Comfortable and Close in"
I stayed at the mark Spencer recently, and was very pleasantly surprised by the hotel. The room was spacious and comfortable: I had a front facing room which had a nice view of downtown. The lobby isn't much, but the staff were very friendly and helpful. They were obviously in the middle of some renovations, but overall the hotel was quaint, quiet, and within walking distance of many nice shops and restaurants.

    Explore Portland

So hip it inspires parody, Portland has become synonymous with alternative cool. Fortunately, the left-of-center attitude, dedication to green spaces and off-the-charts-amazing food and beer that draw people here keep getting better. Do your part to keep it weird by eating maple bacon doughnuts one minute and cheering on naked bike riders the next.

But Portland is more than just an urban freak fest. Head to the Pearl District where young professionals sip happy-hour cocktails next to boutique art galleries, or stroll Forest Park and the city’s famous rose gardens. Just outside city limits is the Columbia Gorge, a magical, moss-covered fairyland of massive waterfalls, walking trails and vistas over the mighty Columbia River. Slightly farther, pyramid-shaped Mount Hood beckons skiers, hikers and anglers.

Yes, it rains a lot in winter, but with an abundance of second-run movie theaters, live music venues and Powell’s Books (the world’s largest independent book store), there’s plenty to do. Summers are glorious – you’ll see lots of tattoos when the hibernators emerge to enjoy the weather.
