This is a rather beautifully decorated, albeit aging building. The staff is remarkably courteous and helpful. The rooms are a tad quaint, but very comfortable and almost luxurious in some details. I highly recommend the penthouse suites and the Presidential suite :)
Room service is quick and food is delicious. The El Gauche restaurant is also right there and it provides a gorgeous dining experience.
Wi Fi is surprisingly fast and reliable. The TVs in the presidential suite were surprisingly old and barely functional (the big one didn't really work, and the one in the bedroom was out of range of the remote if you laid in bed).
The jacuzzi was in good working order and sanitary.
The bed was simply perfect.
No hassle everything - check in, upgrade, extending the stay, checkout. This is a 'VIP+' hotel for Expedia, whatever that means.
Really reliable and courteous limo service.

This hotel was awesome from the time we stepped into the door. The foyer is beautiful and our room was large and spacious. The bathroom was small compared to the room size but overall a great stay walking distance to downtown Portland. The staff here was awesome! They gave us tips on their favorite places to eat and were overall just very friendly.

When we arrived in our room we found old food in the refrigerator. The following morning I went down to the desk for extra towels (only given two large for a room of 4 people). They had one at the desk, no others arrived in the hour that followed. We didn't call the desk again....

We booked our room using MacDonald's wifi. We compared rates and reviews and decided to try Riverside. The process was easy and quick, even for a senior.. upon arrival we were greeted by a friendly and warm young lady. While chatting with her she asked if we were interested in an upgrade which of course was a pleasant surprise. The room we stayed in that night was wonderful and we certainly enjoyed it. A complimentary glass of wine didn't hurt either. All this for $63! We were wow-ed.

Great veiw, good staff, terrible in room climate control. The resturant is adequate and the bar is nice, even though it is the most expensive place in town to get drinks.
Overall, I would recommend staying here.
