Clean nice rooms but lacking modern touches such as electrical outlets to charge phones. It gets old having to dig behind the bed and the t.v. cabinet to find a way to plug in my phone and laptop. There is no room service and the restaurant closes at 8 pm. A bar is open later, but that wouldn't work if you had kids with you. Staff at hotel check in and the restaurant were very grudging about doing their job. The staff at the lobby coffee shop, however, were great.

We (me, wife and 18 year old son) stayed at this hotel over Memorial Day weekend. It is clear from the moment you pull up to the hotel that they place tremendous emphasis on service. The valet driver was so friendly and helpful. Check in was a breeze. Upon letting them know we had a small dog with us, they indicated they would have a special dog arrival set up in our room that afternoon. The gentleman that helped us with our car upon our arrival also brought our luggage to our room. He thoroughly explained to us all the features in the room, great coffee and restaurants located nearby. Upon learning that our son loved playing guitar, the porter let us know that he would be happy to bring up to our room a Breedlove acoustic guitar (a local guitar manufacturer) that our son could use while we were staying at the hotel. Our room was beautiful and large...located on the 3rd floor was a nice balcony and view of downtown. After we unloaded our stuff, we walked down the street to get some lunch and when we arrived back at the hotel, there waiting for us in our room was the doggie set up (mat, bowls, treats and complimentary travel water bowl) and guitar. That evening when we left for dinner, when we arrived back at the hotel, they had completed the turndown service and the sofa bed for our son was fully ready to go and they must have brought in the mattress for the sofa bad because it was a larger, memory foam like mattress...extremely comfortable. Great service!!!

"Clean comfortable room. Ocean view units on beach!"
We enjoyed staying here and will be back. The review could have been Five Stars. One concern was that the ocean view was obscured by the deterioration of the glass in the balcony doors. We were told that the property is aware, but have not decided on the proper replacement. Our hope is that this was not just excuse making as we plan to return this summer.

I believe the staff did their best. They were pleasant and did a few things we asked such as have a room away from stairwell/ice machine. Also, the sliding door lock was broke and we called and that was fixed.
However, we did not get a top floor as requested when the reservation was made. They may have had them all booked.
There isn't air conditioning in the room. There was a stand up fan in the corner of the room. This motel is several blocks from the beach so if it had been warmer weather, I think we would have been uncomfortable.

Staff was so w6oderful, down to earth, and professional. Room small and not so clean. Grout in bathroom dirty, bed skirt stained, and just overall didn't meet my cleanliness standards at all ,especially if its supposed to be one of top rated hotels in Portland. Also lots of drugy transients around hotel ouside. The Urban Farmer restaurant was yummy on the 8th floor. Overall the experience was just ok. Staff made up for hotel disappointment.

Hotel is in great downtown location- walking distance to many shops and restaurants- even the river if you have the afternoon to stroll over. However, the hotel itself was under construction and we weren't notified about this. (Kind of a pain getting in/out valet area since we had a wheelchair). And the rooms were nice... but nothing to write home about. The furniture was kind of old looking and the bench was kind of dirty- all other pieces were clean though.
