The location was exactly what we were hoping for.... walked everywhere. I have only visited Portland on business and this was the first time I was there as a tourist and it was amazing. The staff at the hotel are amazingly helpful and if you want to go someplace close you can borrow a bike or take the Pineapple Express. Stop it!! :) Can't wait to stay again...

We very much enjoyed our night at the Modera. The room was small, but space was not a necessity for us. We loved the city feel, view of the Portland West Hills, and easy access to public transport. We especially loved sipping drinks late into the night by the patio fires at Nel Centro, the restaurant below.

I've stayed here three times and love the vibe of this place. Huge rooms all with a wonderfully upbeat mid-century modern feel. The theme echoes through the entire hotel.
The streetcar has a stop right on the corner so it is an easy trip to get downtown. As a bonus the hotel has free passes for guests.
There is also a low key but vibrant neighborhood shopping district in easy walking distance for a good choice of restaurants.
The continental breakfast is fairly average but wine-tasting Wednesday was a nice surprise.
If you are a light sleeper you should request not to be on the first floor street side as the streetcar runs into the night.

A return trip for an extended weekend. We have stayed at the Sentinel on several occasions. The staff are professional yet friendly and always ready to assist whether it be directions or reservations. We had a second floor corner suite (223) on the older 'side'. Spacious and clean. Street/traffic noise audible but not excessive. Free Wifi but connectivity was poor (slow, dropped) for the duration of stay. This has not been an issue on prior visits where we had rooms on the newer part of the hotel. Minor cosmetic issues due to wear and tear are noticeable but do not significantly detract from the experience. Access to in room safe could be significantly improved by relocating to opposite side of closet.

West of the Willamette River, downtown offers a celebrated skyline, walkable streets, and a lively arts scene. Visitors shop tax-free at Powell’s Books and Portland Saturday Market, a craft lover’s paradise. Area festivals include Cinco de Mayo and the Oregon Brewer’s Festival. The Oregon Zoo, the swank Pearl District, and the inviting Pioneer Courthouse Square are other noteworthy attractions.
