Arrived from DC for a first visit to The Windy City. So, it was my Virgin Visit. The hotel has that modern hip vibe that I realllly like. Front desk staff so welcoming and informative.
And, I joined The Know because I must be in The Know. Now looking forward to future Virgin Visits as more hotels open.

This Red Roof is a mix of an old building, currently under renovation, and a new building behind. The site is right off the 294 tollway and no a main 4 lane, not much in the way of amenities, but a gas station and White Castle is close. I was there just one night, and chose the hotel because it was close to an early morning meeting and low cost.
I had some trepidation as to location, not because it's dangerous, but it is heavily traveled and sort of industrial; also because it's a low cost motel in a semi-sketchy Chicago southside suburb and on a Friday night. I travel a fair amount and this kind of a place is a flip of the coin, but I had little choice unless I wanted to stay 15 mi away at Midway airport.
My stay was very good. I was housed in the second, newer building, farther back from the street. and it was quiet. The rooms were brand new, great bed, TV, set up for digital devices, TV. Small bathroom, but water was hot or cold as needed and a large separate sink area outside the bath/toilet area. Very clean, as were the hallways. Minimal amenities beyond coffee, but the rate was $69 and less with Expedia rewards, I know hotels not as nice near Midway for $100-$125 rate.
I have to recognize the desk attendant Jaweed specifically. He was sharp, courteous on check in and called the room after I was in it to make sure things were OK. I saw/heard him twice coming out to the rooms of other newly arrived guests, telling us all he was available all night.

I walked in out of the 34 degree cold, and a long, freezing train ride from. W Michigan feeling very sorry for myself. The desk clerk, after hearing me out, upgraded me to a room with a large soaking tub. Afterneating dinner out, I settled in for the nicest soak in over 30 years! Wonderful tub - hot water didn’t run out either and my feet finally dethawed. Appreciate the kindess.

The room felt a bit outdated decor wise and the ceiling was chipping away quite a lot in the bathroom but the friendly staff, comfy bed and how spotlessly clean it was every single day, more than made up for it. I'd stay here again.
