The staff and operation of the hotel seemed exceptional. The carpet on our floor as well as our room looked worn and dirty. It might have been clean; but it didn't look nor feel like it. There were a lot of chips in the paint in our room and a stain on the ceiling where it looked like tea somehow splashed up there. On a positive note, being so close to the lake was wonderful and the area is beautiful!

Great family hotel

The service is great but not excellent. Downstairs restaurant was great for breakfast. Pool is a great place for kids. It is open from early morning to late night. There is coin-operated laundry machine $3+ and dryer. The bills could be exchanged to coins at the lobby. It is an easy walking distance to lake walk and museum campus. The room is cleaned every 2 days.

We really enjoyed our stay here. The staff was super friendly and very helpful with what we needed. We did arrive a few hours before the designated check in time, but the staff were accommodating and were able to get us into our room quickly and without trouble. The hotel itself was beautiful on the inside and the location offered a lot of great views. We stayed in one of the corner rooms and our room had the perfect view of Lake Michigan and Grant Skate Park on one side and the other we were able to see the high-rise buildings in the city. The location was very convenient, everything we planned on going to was walking distance and it felt safe. We were there for a concert at Soldier Field and the walk was about 15-20 mins but didn't feel that long because of the path you could take right through the park. There were a lot of pedicabs on standby to get you wherever if you didn't feel like walking too, or the drive would've been about 5 mins from the hotel. The hotel did offer a 24hr valet parking service which we felt was a huge convenience, because parking in the downtown area is ridiculous and expensive. The fee during our stay was $70 per night which was just taken out of our incidental hold (which was $75 per night). I'm not too sure if that's always the fee or if that's what it was due to the event going on during our stay, but either way I'm glad it was offered. Only Cons: The elevators were sort of crazy, and the gym room was fairly small.

Good building, a little misleading when “separate sitting area” is mentioned in the room, yet the room is still just 2 queen beds and a desk and bench all still in the same room. How is this separate if it’s in the same room? Walkable to downtown with access to everything. Clean enough

FLIES!! Dining in the restaurant near the kitchen, getting carpet-bombed by a battalion of flies. Distracted while eating in restaurant with guest. Swarmed the next day while checking out. Staff oblivious. Said they “would” report, instead of they “HAD” reported.

I was charged $3 for a bottle of water which we did not drink. The credit card charge listed the wrong phone number for the transaction, which took about 15 minutes on a call to determine, and then there was another 15 minutes on the phone with the correct hotel location (most of it was spent on hold). I was told I'd be refunded but I never was. On a $4-500 stay, how good does a bogus $3 charge leave one feeling about the experience? The rest of the stay was fine. I will say it's a bit awkward to share the building with another Hilton brand for which there is complimentary breakfast on a common floor -- it can be confusing and can make one feel like a bit of a second class citizen.
