"Great Hotel in the heart of historic Philadelphia"
Had an outstanding stay at the Hotel Monaco last weekend. Everything was top notch start to finish, from the doorman/valet greeting to the check-in. Received an upgrade upon check-in, which is always nice, sometime is pays to travel in the off season! The room was beautiful, a bit quirky, but still tastefully done. The view was terrific, overlooking Independence Hall. Certainly plenty to do within walking distance, especially when the weather is good. Penn's Landing and Winterfest were just a short walk away, obviously there is plenty of sightseeing with historic Philadelphia literally just outside your door, and there were numerous bars and restaurants in the area. The on site restaurant, the Red Owl, offered an excellent breakfast, but did not try out their bar or lunch/dinner menus. Overall, would highly recommend this hotel for a multitude of factors, including location, convenience, amenities and value, at least in the off season. And with all the Hotel offers, even in season the additional expense would be more than justifiable.

Overall I was very pleased with my stay at the hotel. The only negative comment I would have is that I did not feel the parking fee was advertised well. The parking was $30 which isn't bad in the city. The staff was very courteous.

The apartment was clean, in a nice neighborhood, and worked well for 4 adults. There were some details that needed attention. The advance coordination about parking was inadequate, even after we specifically asked for information. We arrived on Christmas Day, which of course they knew, with no place to park as the lot was closed. When we finally reached someone on the phone, the person could not solve my problem and ended the call with the fact that he was about to sit down for his Christmas dinner. Not exactly the best customer service! Another person did later call me and did everything possible to help us and stay in touch during our visit.
In the apartment, several lights, including the one you first turn on when you enter the apartment, did not work (probably needs new light bulb). Also, the book with guest info needs a review. Some info such as how to use the non-existent portable phone is unnecessary. However, there are no instructions on how to operate the thermostat. Most concerning, the instructions on what to do in the event of a "life threatening" emergency is to call 911 and then the book proceeds to remind the visitor of the address to give the 911 operator. Sadly, the address given in the book is in a totally different part of the city. In an emergency this could have serious consequences.
But, the apartment does work well for a group. People should realize that the 2-bedroom description refers to 1 enclosed bedroom and 1 open loft.
