I've stayed there three times this Spring on trips to Philadelphia. Each time I found the rooms to be spacious and clean. The staff is courteous, helpful, and efficient. The location is in the middle of the historic district, but it is about a mile from Center City as well. I felt quite safe there with key operated elevators. The hotel restaurant is above average, but not great. I had to ask for milk for my cereal in the morning. At night it turns into a sports bar, but it is not rowdy. Of course, there are many other outstanding restaurants in the city.

after a 23 hours of flight to reach Philadelphia, it was really very surprising that the front desk checked me in a handicap room, that I only noticed when I entered the room.
I actually returned to the front desk and they easily changed my room to a normal room that I already booked.
this is not the first time to happen with me when booking through expedia. During my last trip to Crown Plaze Chicago O'Hare they also checked me in a handicap room without informing me.
I returned to the reception and changed it.
so it seems some hotels try to fill the handicap rooms because of the special price they give to expedia customers.

This hotel has a great location! It is one of the closest hotels to all of the historic sites including Independence Hall and the Liberty Bell. The rooms are quite spacious and have a wonderful view! The bathrooms are a little outdated and I do agree with others that for the price of the hotel, they should update the bathrooms. The room and bathroom felt clean though! Breakfast is not included in the stay however there is a breakfast place a few doors down that has good, cheap breakfast! Also, don't pay for valet parking. There is a secure parking garage right behind the hotel. Its 28 dollars (including fees) for 24 hours however if you buy it online you get it for 15 (including fees)! Just be sure you have access to a printer before buying the pass online.Overall, the hotel has nice, clean, and close to all of the nearby attractions!

The location is great! It's within walking distance of historical locations as well as restaurants and bars. The hotel, and restaurant and bar staff folks were all super friendly and helpful. The hotel interior itself could probably stand a little updating, especially in the rooms. The carpets and fixtures and such in the rooms look a little run-down and tired. We notices our room was very dusty. The bathroom is quite small. For a two-night stay, it was tolerable - and we were much more interested in being out of the hotel room to explore Philly, so the fact that the rooms weren't as new/nice as other hotels of this caliber didn't really bother us. The pluses outweigh the minuses, by far.

"budget experience maybe it could be a bit cheaper "
Good facilities. Clean in most areas (the female dorm showers could be a bit cleaner) and having a kitchen is a major plus. Free dinner Wed is great so is the free breakfast weekend. you have all you need. The bunkbeds are really small and low. I used the one at the bottom and hurt my head quite often. The kitchen is the best part and the fact they organise socials can be quite good for the young ones.
they could have safety boxes for passports and important docs.
In a small alleyway so it can be intimidating if you are on your own in the evening.

Dear diary, I stayed in a hostel. It was not hostile. The folks working there were cool cats, and I quickly felt comfortable being there. The atmosphere had a groovy vibe to it, foreign and new, yet familiar. Despite being a new space to me, and despite being filled with strangers, there was a definite and strong feeling of camaraderie and home to the place.

We were very pleased with our stay at the Penn's View Hotel. There was a (paid) parking lot on site which made arrival/check in super simple. The hotel itself was lovely and we really enjoyed the historic feel and decor.
Our room was extremely comfortable and clean.
The location is truly the best part. The hotel is a short walk from many restaurants, bars as well as popular tourist destinations and museums. We would definitely stay at the Penn's View again in the future.
