Great place to stay but two issues. One, no parking at the location so for 48 bucks you can valet. That's annoying considering the parking garage is 2 blocks away and the price is half that. So park at the garage and just move your own items over. I prefer to stay at hotels with parking in the building. Two, my room had a leak behind the walls so that I heard dripping fairly loudly.

The apartment was clean, in a nice neighborhood, and worked well for 4 adults. There were some details that needed attention. The advance coordination about parking was inadequate, even after we specifically asked for information. We arrived on Christmas Day, which of course they knew, with no place to park as the lot was closed. When we finally reached someone on the phone, the person could not solve my problem and ended the call with the fact that he was about to sit down for his Christmas dinner. Not exactly the best customer service! Another person did later call me and did everything possible to help us and stay in touch during our visit.
In the apartment, several lights, including the one you first turn on when you enter the apartment, did not work (probably needs new light bulb). Also, the book with guest info needs a review. Some info such as how to use the non-existent portable phone is unnecessary. However, there are no instructions on how to operate the thermostat. Most concerning, the instructions on what to do in the event of a "life threatening" emergency is to call 911 and then the book proceeds to remind the visitor of the address to give the 911 operator. Sadly, the address given in the book is in a totally different part of the city. In an emergency this could have serious consequences.
But, the apartment does work well for a group. People should realize that the 2-bedroom description refers to 1 enclosed bedroom and 1 open loft.

We wanted to check in early because we had an event across the river. With no prior notice, and without hesitation, the staff made arrangements to get us into the room well before their listed check in time. If that wasn't enough, they upgraded our room. The room itself was phenomenal. Plenty of natural light and space. The decor was wonderful. The bathroom was slightly dated, but clean. We were only there for a night so unfortunately we did not have time to make use of either the fireplace or the jacuzzi tub. As for the location, we were steps away from all of the Old City attractions and found some wonderful places to eat before and after our trip to NJ. I read some reviews about the noise from the highway which is directly next to the hotel. And while I did notice the traffic sounds in the afternoon and the following morning, in my personal experience, there were no problems getting a good night's sleep.

The staff was very friendly and welcoming. They were helpful with all my questions. The hostel is within walking distance of great sights, food, and drink. The communal lounge area is comfortable with television, games, and instruments! Cool place. I would definitely go back.

Putting it simply; this hostel is awesome!
Starting with the location: the hostel is a few minutes walk away from the Liberty Bell, or Spruce Street Harbour Park, 30minutes from the "Rocky" steps and a sub-$10 uber journey to the bus/train stations or the airport.
There's also the excellent facilities; the hostel is very clean throughout, there's luggage storage, modern dorms/bathrooms, lots of powerpoints and individual lockers in each room and a great communal area, comprising of a well equipped kitchen and a common room with big comfortable sofas, a mobile charging station and a big TV with cable channels, Netflix, Hulu, etc. It has everything you could want! One extra nice touch is that one of the employees is an artist so has decorated certain areas of the hostel, including making a very cool looking Philadelphia skyline that goes around half of the kitchen, while I was there.
On the topic of staff; they were a highlight of this hostel. They gave guests a quick tour around the premises when they arrived and organised nights out (a trip to a beer garden and to a salsa night, while I stayed) and were always approachable which allowed the place to feel especially communal. This was true whether it was on the night out or when joining a big group of us watching an "It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia" marathon.
Overall, I couldn't recommend this place enough!

Society Hill Hotel was exactly what I expected a basic, nice place to stay conveniently located a hop and a skip away from the most historic sites in Philadelphia. The Pub downstairs is a perfect place to watch the game, get some pub grub and refreshing draft beer before settling in for the night. My twelve year old son and I turn all of our trips to Shriners in Philly into a history lesson. Which is why we were delighted to know that all the best museums from the amazing Chemical Heritage Museum to the one and only Benjamine Franklin Museum were at our fingertips. The staff was extremely helpful from getting our bags out of our hands to giving us a few history lessons, lets just say Benjamin Franklin was a fan of the Society Hill Hotel. Our room was small, but the location and the great breakfast nook next door, Cafe Square One made it perfect for us. We will stay at the Society Hill Hotel next time we visit Philly.

After attending a wedding in northern suburbs of Phila, stayed at this hotel to be close to historic sites. It is a lovely boutique hotel with charm and modern amenities, very friendly staff, also close to excellent restaurants and casual eateries. Wish we could have stayed longer to enjoy both the hotel and more of this very nice city.
