This adorable hotel is hidden away on a side street just off Lakeshore Drive so it's close to the water and the parks along there. A few streets over, within easy walking distance, there are lots of good restaurants and shops - most of them local. It's less than a mile from Wrigley Field, making it an easy choice of your're a Cubs fan, and the Addison Station stop on the Red Line is also close, making it easy to get to a White Sox game, too.
The hotel itself is older and kind of creaky. We woke up each night when our upstairs neighbor got home very late because the ceiling creaked as he walked around. The bed was a little too soft and also creaky. The rooms themselves have been modernized, but as with most Chicago hotels, there's little counter space in the bathroom. That said, it was still very nice.
The staff was GREAT! They recommended good restaurants and theaters in the area and were always very friendly. I would definitely plan on staying here again.

My room was not large but it was very comfortable and well decorated. There was a tremendous amount of choice in the continental breakfast. Host went to some trouble to make sure that I was comfortable. He also had to spend some time arranging to have flowers that were sent to me actually get there. in slightly warmer weather I would love to sit in that garden.

We needed an affordable place to stay in Chicago and were happy to find the Old Chicago Inn. Our room was small but comfortable, and the bathroom (across the hall) was clean and attractive. We enjoyed relaxing in the sitting room on the third floor. Continental breakfasts included fresh fruit, cereal, and yogurt as well as coffeecake and quiche. The front desk employee (David) was welcoming and helpful.

"Great location for a car-free Chicago experience. "
Super easy to book. They provide key codes so it makes it super easy to check in. The condo we rented was at 1916 Roscoe, Unit 1 east. It was very well appointed. The beds were comfy. There was a Queen sofabed in the living room. The dining room had a closet for coats and the table seated 6. The first bedroom has a queen bed, dresser and a large walk in closet. The bathroom has a jetted tub and they had nice towels. The kitchen has a little bar table and a original built in and is updated and looks great. The back bedroom also has a nice closet and a queen size bed. There's a back deck off the kitchen. This was probably the best appointed condo rental I've been to. Most places have the dishes and toaster and maybe a hair dryer, but this place provided a full spice rack, non-stick spray, paper towels, dish soap, foil. Just the kind of little extras that you hate to have to go out and buy. But then again, if you did - the Jewel or Mariano's groceries stores are just a 10 minute walk west. Tons of great restaurants and bars to do. Uber rides are usually no more than a 5 minute wait at most. The el stop is Paulina and it is just 2 blocks west. Plenty of off-street parking (requiring no permits or tags) on Roscoe. Cool shops to browse are all up and down the street.
