Convenient location. Had a bad encounter with the front desk. She was rude and obnoxious. I asked about a trolley to bring the luggage down. She told me they had no trolley, I told her it was a lie because I had seen one the day before. She then told me I would have to wait until her colleague arrives at 9, because only her one was working. Bad encounters like this can put a bad name in your business. This should have been handled in a more polite manner. I therefore has to drag my luggage down to the lobby.

Let me preface my review by stating that the Pio's location is excellent! It's within walking distance to 2 metro stops & 1 bus stop. This alone opens up a world of possibilities for travelers. We were able to catch trains to Toledo, Salamanca, Avila, etc. every day by riding the metros to either Atocha or Chamartin & catching our trains. There are souvenir shops, restaurants, grocery stores, pharmacies & many sightseeing attractions within walking distance too. We were out early mornings & late nights & never felt unsafe. We never had any safety issues. We booked a superior room with a palace view. While we did have a palace view, the room felt small.

Very nice hotel in a great location.
Rooms were furnished very nicely, and very clean, as was the entire property.
The metro station is right outside, and Gran Via is full of bars, restaurants, shops & entertainment.

Nice location, right across from the Metro and walking distance to,shopping, dining, etc. the room was spacious and clean and modern. My only complaint was when some one upstairs flushed the toilet it sounded like a massive waterfall,in my room.I would stay again though.

Just came back from a 4 day stay in Madrid and was really pleased with this hotel. Rooms are clean and comfortable including air con, minibar fridge and free wifi.
It's in a great location so we pretty much walked everywhere we wanted to visit, though it is right next to a metro stop if you want to go further afield. The rooftop pool area is fabulous, really big with lots of loungers and a lovely pool. There is a restaurant there too (price of food and drink is hotel standard ie not cheap). The only issue is that you aren't allowed your own food or drink in the pool area (and it is strictly enforced). I understand this to a point but don't think it should apply to water, it is very hot and therefore you need to drink lots!
All in all, it's a great hotel which I wouldn't hesitate to recommend!

The room had 2 single beds that can be joined together. However, when joined together, it keeps on sliding sideways resulting in having 2 single beds. Staff did not ask when checking in if 2 single beds or 1 double bed for us as a couple. Upon reaching our room, we had 2 single beds to be joined together by us.
Bed was not comfortable. Not a place to rest after going on an excursion.
Staff were helpful in scheduling excursions.
