Hotel is ok. Rooms are tiny but clean with comfortable beds. Staff are very nice but young. I don't think they are trained properly in customer service as they were very friendly and tried but didn't seem to really know how to provide service.
The first night I returned to my room and it sounded like the rooftop bar was in my room. The front desk said they would ask that the music be turned down. I offered to move hotels if they would refund my stay. They would not provide a refund and despite the hotel being totally sold out - they suddenly found me an upgraded quiet room.
After I moved rooms, with not even an offer of help from the hotel staff, they told me I could only stay in the new room for one night and had to move back to my original room the next morning!!
By this time it was 11:00pm. I again asked for a refund and said I would change hotels. After a brief exchange the hotel finally agreed I could stay in the new room both nights.
If you plan to stay - be sure to ask for a quiet room and consider an upgraded room.

Not a boutique hotel but don't let this put you off. Very nice room which was spotlessly clean and with very pleasant and helpful staff. Although it is in the middle of la ramblas it is down a side street and very quiet. Would definitely use it again.

We stayed at Petit Palace Opera after spending a few nights in a Barcelona hostel-- this place felt like heaven in comparison. The location cannot be beat; essentially any place you want to go in the city is walking distance. There are many great resturants nearby and some pretty cool bars to check out. The elevator was a little sketchy, but we survived without any problems & just opted for the stairs most times. We did not try the breakfast, or any meals, with the hotel. A friend accidently dropped a glass in our cup and the cleaning service showed up almost immediately to help us with the mess. Also, a big plus was that the front desk girls were fluent in English, which is a huge plus in Madrid. I highly recommend this hotel!

There are many plus-sides to the Mariposa. The rooms are huge and clean. I loved the shower - high water pressure, nice bath tub. They give you a complimentary bottle of water each day as well as the typical tea / coffee stuff.
The location is good / great. It's a 10-15 minute walk to Maria Zambrano, the main train station (also where there is a nearby mall), 5 minutes to Malaga Central station, and 10 minutes to the "touristy area" / Malaga Park. Shopping and restaurants are nearby, though not plentiful. I liked "Al Yamal", a Moroccan place.
The wifi worked very well, though I think there were occasional slow-downs. The hotel breakfast was very good, well-worth the 9.5e imho. They had fresh-squeeze OJ and a crepe station as well as the usual (and delicious) items. The staff were nice, friendly, helpful. I was allowed to check in a little early, which is always great flying from the US.
