We chose to stay in Coconut Grove because we were not interested in staying in Miami's party beach areas for this trip, and the location of Sonesta Coconut Grove is fantastic for the area, being in the middle of everything. The hotel is extremely clean, which is a definite plus, but there are a few minor maintenance issues that are noticeable; most importantly, the hand bar in the bathtub/shower was not securely fastened to the wall, which can be a hazard for anyone who actually tries to use it. Because the floors are tile and the main door to the hotel room was about an inch off of the floor, you can hear everything that is happening in the hallway nearby; it's also a bit noisy at night, what with the nearby churchbells ringing every hour.
We were impressed by the view of the marina from the Panorama Restaurant and Sky Lounge, but the menues were rather limited, service a little slow and lackadaisical, and number of tables low. It was not worth eating there, especially with several great restaurants in the area.
The front desk staff are extremely helpful and friendly, and we found them useful on several occasions. They greeted us every time we entered the lobby, and each person we saw there was willing to provide local information and answered all of our questions patiently.
Overall, I would say this is a good hotel to stay at.

I enjoyed my stay at this hotel. Staff were amazing and room was great. Had nice view off balcony of the Marina, beautiful palm trees and wonderful high rise condos. Hotel had a Starbucks which was a plus. Would definitely stay here again and recommend it to anyone.

I'm a single mom of a 2 year old and i took my little guy with me to stay in miami for supercon. This place was great. The tvs have usb and hdmi inputs so you can bring whatever media device you like and watch it (i have an external hard drive with my son's favorite movies and shows). The room was nice. Had everything you need. Fridge, microwave, etc. The bed was one thing that worried me. When we laid down to go to sleep, i smelled body odor on a few pillows... so I'm guessing they don't change the sheets as much as they say (little note by the bed said sheets and pillow cases were changed every day). Still. We had a great time. The food spread was awesome, too. I couldn't have anything but sausage (my son is allergic to dairy and soy) but they had scrambled eggs with cheese, waffles, cinnamon buns, donuts, muffins, etc. The location was great, too. Not too close to the city... but not too far, either. Nice and quiet.

Is well located but the rooms seem to be a bit old. Showers are small and the hole thing looks like Luis IV room.
Dont get me wrong, its not bad quality, its simply outdated and quite old.
Im used to more spce and less carpet for the price...

Once a haven for pirates, today Coconut Grove is one of South Florida's most prestigious neighborhoods. Sitting between Miami and Biscayne Bay, this pedestrian-friendly area features plenty of outdoor cafes, boutiques, and a vibrant nightlife. The tour de force of any stay may just be an afternoon spent at Vizcaya's Museum with its European-inspired gardens overlooking Biscayne Bay.
