We have just returned from a long weekend in Vienna at the Hotel Johann Strauss. The reception staff are delightful and very helpful. Alex and Ernst especially. They arranged taxis for us, provided good guidance and were always happy to help out. Our room was on the top floor and it was a decent size with a very comfortable bed. There were a couple of things that could have been better (hence not an Excellent rating). The room safe was broken (but reception put valuables in a safe for us), there are no hooks in the bathroom to hang towels or anything from, and the walls are a little thin - we could clearly hear our neighbours running their bath.
The breakfast room did get a little busy, but there were never people queuing. There was a tendency to run out of things, like the fresh fruit salad, And I was none too pleased on Monday morning to be told, when the plate of smoked salmon emptied, that it would not be replaced as salmon was only served Friday to Sunday and what had been there was all that was left. That appeared to be the case with cakes too on Monday. But the rest was good.
There is only 1 lift for the hotel, and during "rush hour" you may need to wait for it to arrive.
Wifi is free and works well everywhere in the hotel.
The location of the hotel is superb. It is literally 2 mins walk to the Ubahn and then only a couple of stops to the city centre. Or if you prefer to walk, that only takes about 20 mins to be at the heart of Vienna. There is a superb restaurant just

Overall our stay in Vienna was very nice. We asked for a courtyard view and got to see the top of the tent over the courtyard.
Staff was very polite and helpful
Breakfast was always more than we could have asked for.
Dinner was always hot and served promptly

"Beautiful hotel in the middle of the city center"
I love both the exterior and interior of this hotel, the building was really beautiful from the outside, and the hotel had a really impressive designed underground bar, cozy, comfortable, luxury and creative. The room was a bit small, but I would not complain anything, because the furniture and everything was modern, clean and comfortable. And I have to say that it's much cheaper than a hotel with the same condition and location in Japan.
The staff were very friendly and helpful (we met 3 of them). We came back late at night and asked for our free drinks (got it with VIP access via Expedia) but the night staff showed no reluctance but guided us to their beautiful bar and prepared the drinks right away.

The concierge girls are sweet and kind. The rooms are very clean like the Novum rooms in Berlin. This tells me that Novum has high standards of cleanliness in German and Austria. I shall not stay in any other hotels in Europe from this point forward, if I can help it.

Great apartment for people who do not plan to spend too much time indoors, which is exactly us. We needed somewhere to eat, sleep and refresh and everything you could have needed was there. Access codes were sent to us on the day of arrival and everything was smooth in that regards. Internet and TV facilities were great. Everything you could need to make some basic meals were available in the kitchen and there was a BILLA supermarket extremely close to the apartment. Also close to the apartment was a huge selection of resteraunts, and a huge market on a saturday. Location was suberb. The only one negative thing I can think of is that the view from the windows was just a brick wall but if you want brilliant views then you'd want to be paying more. We didn't care about views and would rather spend the money being tourists.

Many of Vienna’s artistic and cultural celebrities live here. Wieden’s varied architecture includes fine examples of the Secession style (Art Nouveau) and the city’s most impressive Baroque church, Karlskirche. The Naschmarkt on the Wienzeile is Vienna’s liveliest market.
