As much as I am not that much into writing reviews, I wanted to comment on the Ansonborough Inn and it’s old world charm. This is definitely a hotel for adults and is situated within reasonable walking distance to most of the must see and eat places in Charleston. The place is brimming with historic ambiance and they take care of their guests pretty well. The only advice I would give prospective guests would be to contact the hotel directly for reservations as you probably will do much better on the nightly rate than going through a third party. I overheard another guest remark about their room rate being almost half of what I paid when I booked in May through Expedia. Convenient supermarket which is open 24 hours is directly across the street. We were on the first floor and our room was right next to East Bay Ave which is a pretty busy thoroughfare- both cars and pedestrians - if it weren’t for the wave sound machine in our room, sleep would have been nearly impossible. You have to pay $20 a night to park in their “lot”, which I found to be too nickel and dime for what I paid to stay. It should be included.

We really enjoyed our three night stay in early November. This was a couples getaway and we came to like this small Inn with a great location in the heart of the Old downtown historic area. The hotel wasclose to numerous fun, high-quality restaurants and an easy walk to the waterfront parks and walkways. The staff was friendly and helpful.

I was expecting a cute little inn, which it was, but this place definitely exceeded expectations! We arrived to a happy hour with endless wine, cheese and crackers. The staff was so nice and even offered to help with luggage. Breakfast had so many options and coffee to go so we could explore the town with a warm coffee in hand! The rooms were designed to make you feel like you were staying in Charleston years ago but the beds were still comfy, which I was worried about! And the location- perfect! We will definitely be returning!

West Ashley (population 54,000) was the site of many battles during the Revolutionary and American Civil wars. It is noted as the original site of Charleston by English colonists in 1670. Today, the historic site is known as Charles Towne Landing and it features Charleston’s zoo, gardens, and a reproduction of a 17th century sailing vessel.
