This motel is a little bit in the dodgy part of town. We’ve seen many suspicious looking people during our stay but never encountered any issues. The Denny’s next door is very convenient for a big breakfast before exploring the city or for a quick dinner right before you crash in. The room was clean, the pillows were big and hard (just the way we like them) and the towels were clean but the bathroom was nasty. Somebody must have died their hair black because the wall, the tub, the floor, the door, everything had black stain on it. Water was hot but pressure was weak. It was OK to have a place to sleep and shower but if I go to Austin again, I will book a place at a nicer location.

The hotel was ok for the price, double room is a decent size. Our mini fridge needed to be defrosted but, it kept everything very cold. The room A/C needed to be colder and drier. The kids swim wear never dried in the room. We always felt sticky. The breakfast was decent and hotel location is close to many food place.

If you are looking to spend as little as possible, only using the motel as a base for sleeping and showering it is great. The room was clean and no previous smoker smell (you know how you can always tell when they try mask the smell with perfume). If your looking for a place to hang out a lot, this is not your motel. It fit my family's needs perfectly as a little used headquarters. The one thing they could have improved upon was the continental breakfast. A few hot items would have been nice. We chose to go to Denny's. We spent the money saved on the motel on activities and really good food - Pappasito's for Mexican, Pappadeaux's for Cajun, Red lobster, and Black's BBQ in Lockhart. We went to Black's on our way home, but it would have been worth it to us to drive 60 minutes to Black's, and 60 minutes back. Just don't get dressed up for Black's. You'll be out of place. Expect a line inside and outside.

North Central Austin is home to thriving Latino neighborhoods, Chinatown, and Highland Mall. Austin’s ethos of egalitarianism is evident here as college students, retirees, and blue-collar workers live side-by-side. FM 2222 leads to Mount Bonnell, which offers panoramic city views. Be sure to visit Threadgill’s on North Lamar, the beer joint where Janis Joplin groomed her voice and persona.
