The Orfila is a top boutique hotel, conveniently situated in downtown Madrid. The staff are friendly, helpful and efficient. The Superior room quality is very good, with very comfortable beds, modern bathroom with jacuzzi and quite spacious. The restaurant is good but expensive. You won't get away with less than 100 Euros for two dining. Make sure the breakfast is included in the room rate. If not, the full buffet breakfast is an outrageous 33 Euros per head! Overall though, a lovely hotel and we will be back.

The hotel is very well positioned and very close to the Metro station (the Metro system is brilliant). The staff were excellent -lovely and welcoming and the hotel was clean and modern in style (if you like that sort of design).
My one criticism is that our room overlooked the street and as we stayed on a Saturday night, the noise outside in the street was terrible until a little before 5a.m. If I went back, I would ask for a room not overlooking the outside.

We stayed at the Hesperia for 4 nights in September. It was a bit further away from the core area so we had to take a taxi to and from the hotel every day but it was worth the expense.
We were greeted upon check in very politely and hospitably, we got a room upgrade and the hotel room was very spacious, clean and comfortable. The hotel itself was quiet and very nice. We preferred being in a quieter hotel away from all the hustle especially after touring the city during the day. The staff was very friendly and helpful throughout our stay.
The only downfall was the fitness room was being renovated while we were there but they offered us a pass to a nearby gym which was very good and pleasant.
If you don't mind being away from the major area in Madrid, I would recommend the Hesperia. We will definitely go back there the next time in Madrid.
