Pros: just across the street from a metro station
Pros: has a pool
Pros: places to eat out nearby
Cons: not very sound proof (rooms overlooking the pool would be a nightmare for noise from the pool area) & rooms with a "view" are floor to ceiling glass so lets lots of noise in
Cons: food/drinks expensive & menu upmarket but would have been good to have some "basic food" on the menu (especially when staying with family/younger people)

Hotel is within walking distance (10 minutes with luggage) of Union station in the Little Tokyo area of Los Angeles and 1 minute walk to Gold line train at little Tokyo/Arts District station. 10 Story hotel we were on the 8th floor at the rear overlooking car park which I suspect is a quieter room than those at the front. The top two floors were being renovated during our stay but the noise was not intrusive. Several Japanese markets nearby and many Japanese restaurants around. Closest American style supermarket required train trip (no car) which we rolled into one of our many sightseeing trips. Rooms were Japanese themed and a little bit tired but may be in for a future makeover.

The hotel is comfortable and stylish, with nice extras like a free glass of wine in the evening, luxurious linens, and a delightful restaurant with great views. It's also tip-free because they pay their employees a living wage. The location is really convenient to the UCLA campus with quick access to the Getty Center, Will Rogers State Park, and the beach at Santa Monica. The only downside is that it is noisy. It's right on Hwy 405 so there's traffic noise. Also, each room has door to an adjoining room, so if your neighbor is listening to the TV or talking on the phone, you'll hear every word.

Very comfortable hotel in Westwood. Not many shops/restaurants in walking distance although they have a shuttle to take you within 3 miles (no return trip). If you're looking for a good quality 'base' where you can navigate on your own from, I recommend.

From its hills to its sidewalks, the stars are everywhere in Hollywood. Although most film and TV production today takes place in Burbank, Hollywood retains its mystique. The elite are commemorated with stars on the Walk of Fame and cement handprints at Grauman’s Chinese Theater. The Hollywood & Highland Center shopping and entertainment venue includes the Kodak Theatre, home of the Oscars.
