NYX is a much smaller hotel than most of the resorts in the area. At first I wondered if that would be a mistake but it didn't take long to realize how perfect it was for just me and my wife who were there alone to celebrate our 20th wedding anniversary. It only took minutes to get anywhere in the hotel vs waiting on an elevator to ride down several floors waiting on dozens of people to get on and off. There was never a crowd...ever. No waiting in line for anything. The staff seemed to know everyone in the hotel. Very few kids so no worries about cannon ballers in the pool. The pool and beach area was the same size as the giant resort next door but with about a quarter of the people. So there was more than enough room to really enjoy the beach or the pool. Drinks were plentiful and the food was good. Breakfast was a buffet, lunch and dinner were ala carte. Definitely worth the all inclusive price which was about half of other hotel prices. If my wife and I went back alone or with another couple I wouldn't go anywhere else. If I took kids I would look for something a little more kid friendly.

Upscale service, Delicious food! Extremely clean. Hotel is away from the craziness of the hotel zone which gives you more bang for you're buck. Big rooms, multiple restaurants on site. All you need is right in the resort. Highly recommend!

This was our 6th visit to the Riu Palace. Almost feels like home. This year was stay in the All Adults Villas and truly enjoyed it. The pool is very nice with a quiet atmosphere. If you want action, the bar pool and others are just across the lawn.
At the Villas, we were truly pampered with having our own waiter, Felix, who was outstanding. The buffet is always good and plentiful. The entire hotel is clean and the staff very courteous.
Can't wait for our next visit to the Riu.

Overall nice place but needs updating and is getting it soon. The beach is beautiful and you're right on it. Pool is relaxing and since there are only 30 rooms it is nice and quiet. Overall value, I would say is good. The restaurant was good and not too expensive in my opinion. Staff was nice and very accommodating to every request for assistance when needed.

Front desk gave us wrong room & key. The room was full of mosquitoes and we had to keep the room cold to keep them away from us. It would've been nice to been told that they have dress code in the restaurants.

Also known as El Centro, Cancun Downtown is where locals live and shop. Plaza las Americas is an American-style shopping center with large department stores and small specialty shops. Mercado Veintiocho (Market 28), an open-air flea market, is an alternative to the chain shops. Tourists often venture into area supermarkets for souvenirs and liquor. Plaza de Toros features weekly bullfighting.
