We rented a studio apartment for the two of us; it was small and had a single chair, no couch. It said have a table (right in front of the chair, making the chair barely usable) and 2 chairs for eating. Kitchen was minimally stocked with kitchenware. Staff was uneven--most of them were very friendly and helpful, a couple were just okay. All in all, the place was clean and adequate. We would stay again but try to upgrade to a one bedroom apartment. The location was just terrific; a great place to use as a home base while enjoying Melbourne.

This is more of a vacation rental than a hotel room, which was great for us. We stayed a week, and no staff entered the entire time, which worked well for us. There is a parking space in the apartment car park for use. The apartment is half a block from Vic Market, and just a short walk to the free tram zone that runs in the Central Business District. It's a 10 minute walk to either Uni Melbourne or RMIT. There is a small fridge, stove, and sink in the kitchen, and there is a single-unit washer/dryer along with an iron and decent closet space. This is great if you are staying in town for more than just a couple of nights.

An inner-city suburb, Carlton is known as Melbourne's 'Little Italy.' Lygon Street is the hub of Italian tradition, lined with a plethora of cafés, European cake shops, gelaterias, trattorias, and fine Italian restaurants. The area is also home to well-preserved examples of Victorian architecture and the World Heritage-listed Royal Exhibition Building and Carlton Gardens.
