The Rendezvous Melbourne is an Edwardian heritage hotel opposite Finders St train station. We enjoyed a suite which was a similar price to a double room in other local 4 star (chain) hotels, so very good value and spacious accommodation. The staff were brilliant and the bar area is particularly classy and enjoyable. The restaurant is below ground with little natural light and is not appealing. The area directly outside the hotel suffers from being adjacent to a large train station, so dirty and urban feeling. We enjoyed our stay overall.

I had organized a weekend away in lieu of my partners birthday. The hotel looks wonderful, guest services when we checked in were extremely helpful. The room was neat and organized and with all the amenities that were stated on our booking. The chrome cast wouldn’t connect due to poor internet connection, so that was disappointing. There was mould all over the shower and I have photos. I mentioned it to reception and the response I got was, we’ll note that. I was very disappointed with her lack of acknowledgement. We parked our car in the carpark next door and on check out we weren’t given proper instructions after paying for the parking . Unfortunately we weren’t given two validated cards to exit the carpark and therefore needed to call security for help. My partner managed to go back to reception to notify them of the issue and they just said, oops we forgot to give you two cards to exit the carpark. Disappointing end to a lovely birthday weekend.

Comfy bed but definitely not a queen bed as in the room description, there wasn’t room for one. I just had a double bed. It would have been very cramped with two people staying. Room service is done late, I turned them away at 4pm one day and another they completely forgot to top up the tea and coffee. I’m glad I booked a room with a river view though, since this definitely made up for the lack of space.

Our room smelt musty on arrival to the motel like it had been locked up for a month. The exhaust fan in the bathroom didn’t work so the whole bathroom got wet when the shower was used. The bath shower was also extremely small and could be an issue for larger people.

The bathroom sliding door is very heavy and does not stay shut, keeps sliding opening. Luckily I was traveling solo but this is a big issue if you’re sharing a room. Maybe remove the mirror on the door to make it weigh less.
