Stayed at this hotel for a 2 day break in January. On arrival in the evening we had to wait 5 minuteness at reception before being acknowledged as the one person on duty was engaged in telephone conversation. That was only negative point to be made about staff who were generally very helpful. The room was excellent with comfortable bed in which we had a good sleep after walking around the city in the snow. Breakfasts that were part of our package were good with plenty of variety. Hotel is in a nice district with nice cafes, shops and restaurants close by and is close to an underground station and a tourist hop on/off bus stop. January is a nice time to visit Stockholm when all the Christmas lights are still on.

"great price for a good hotel in a prime location"
hotel is a quick 2 minute walk from the metro making it super convenient to zip around the city. i don't know her name but i checked in on 8/30 at around noon and the woman who checked me in needed a lesson in customer service. i was able to check in so early because i was staying in a a single and she quite rudely remarked that they had plenty of those because not many people travel solo. then when i went upstairs my key wouldn't work to get me into the floor. when i went down to tell her she told me that i had to try again and again. i told her that i considered trying to swipe in over 10 times to be sufficient. after staring each other down for a few minutes, she finally relented and gave me a new key which worked. besides all of that, the room was perfect for a single person. its a simple twin sized room, good for one person for a short stay. bed was comfortable, bathroom was spacious with great water pressure. wifi worked great, was even able to stream. free breakfast in the morning was very good. would definitely recommend to a friend.

I had a very good stay in this hotel. The facilities were amazing, particularly the gym and sauna facilities. It is also conveniently located in central Stockholm so all the major attractions are within easy reach.

My family stayed here last week, for 4 nights, and the end of a two week journey in Denmark and Sweden. I was very pleased with Kung Carl. The staff was friendly and helpful, and our room was perfect for us: a european double bed, and a set of twin bunk beds for my two sons, age 10 and 9. They even lend you a pack of stuffed animals. We had a small refrigerator, too. The building is old and filled with nooks and crannies, but well maintained. The breakfast buffet was very good, but a little more fresh fruit would have been great. The location is in a high end shopping area, but it is easy to walk to everything from there. And it's right near a subway stop. They arranged our taxi to catch the Arlanda Express to the airport. It worked very well for us.

"Very Acceptable Standards at a Reasonable Price."
I had pre-booked a twin de-luxe room and the hotel reception was able to greet me by name even before I had said who I was. There was a lift to our room (No. 505) two floors above reception and hotel entrance, which are both on the third floo. It would appear that Levels 1 and 2 house the cheaper single rooms which have received some poor reviews. Our room was spacious with sprung mattress beds which had additional 3" foam overlays on them. The bedding was an undersheet, duvet and two small cushion-like pillows each. The only criticisms of the room are that there is only a shower (no bath) and there are no cupboards or wardrobes, only an open rack with coathangers, on which to hang one's clothes. Our window looked out above the hotel entrance onto a very quiet cul-de-sac. When unpacking, we discovered we had left a small holdall in the taxi. The reception staff were extremely helpful in tracing the bag and getting it returned. Venturing outside, we discovered that we were just a two-minute walk from Karlaplan underground (T-ban). During the holiday we found that this was the best way to travel as overground traffic is very heavy and slow within the city. One can buy T-ban travel cards for various lengths of stay and these are recommended. One can also purchase a Stockholm Card or a Stockholm Pass both of which give free access to many of the tourist attractions and free and/or subsidised travel on tour buses and boats.

It’s located in the area north of Dramaten, the off-white and gold theatre where Ingmar Bergmann got his start.
