I was celebrating a milestone birthday and reserved space at the Observatory rooftop lounge. I also reserved a sleeping room for when the celebration was over. The staff was very attentive and the accommodations were luxurious.

While I had a sense of the Avery from reviews and photographs, our stay was punctuated by the excellent location, the friendliness of the staff and guests, the well-appointed rooms and the overall quaintness of this hotel, which fits in perfectly with the historic Georgetown district. We were greeted by owner/operator Justin with a glass of wine on check-in, followed by an immensely friendly conversation about his hotel, places to eat, nearby attractions and the like. Justin took care of our parking needs and we spent two beautiful days exploring on foot all of Georgetown. We spent a late evening on our last night on the patio with an excellent glass of Rioja. Planning a trip to Georgetown? There is really only one place to stay. And this is it!

We were very pleased with the hotel. The staff was amazing. They were very helpful and so friendly. This was our first time to DC and found the location perfect. The staff was also helpful with recommending transportation which got us all around. The rooms were nice and clean. The breakfast was plentiful and well versed.

The location is great, next to the river walk and right in Georgetown with Bus routes going to the National Mall. Room was very comfortable with recently remodeled kitchen and bathrooms. They also have a washer and dryer on two floors for $2 each. Free breakfast was ok, baked goods. The only thing I didn't like was the a/c in the room. It was extremely loud. It cooled fine but the noise it made sounded like a jet engine. I was surprised they were remodelling the rooms next to me while I was there which made some noise during the day but it was fine because I was out of the room for the most part of the day. Other than that I loved the location and would highly recommend it.

With its tree-lined streets and quaint brick row houses, the famously charming Georgetown neighborhood is an ideal spot for a stroll. Shoppers will appreciate browsing in trendsetting boutiques hidden down narrow side streets, and foodies will love sampling the menus at some of the capitol's best restaurants. After dark, Georgetown’s many pubs and bars make for a bustling nightlife.
