I was surprised at the new look Hyatt Place in the Haymarket. Having stayed only in Hyatt Regency hotels in numerous cities over the years, I was used to the atrium decor. The new hotel was a very nicely appointed modern decor. The rooms are large and well equipped for convenience and comfort - refrigerator, coffee maker, hair dryer, ironing board, as well as a large living area with a sectional sofa. The television screen is huge and Directv is the provider. There were at least fifteen premium cable movie channels (HBO, Cinemax and more). The bathroom facilities are new and very convenient. The breakfast buffet is all that one should expect for selection and quality. Of equal importance, the staff were friendly and extremely helpful. I was able to book another room for an October trip with ease and accommodation. I will stay here often while in Lincoln.

It is obvious that the hotel takes a heavy hit from a lot of traffic and appears older that it is. Certainly due for some updates, carpeting, especially. But sure serves its purpose with a location well east of down town (still only about 8 minutes downtown on "O" Street. Close to shopping, food and other things. And a bargain. I don't understand, though, why motels plop these generous flat screen tvs in room and then only offer analog channels. Minor gripe.

I'm a Hilton Honors member & although I don't expect to be treated all warm & fuzzy, it's nice when any hotel front desk is warm & welcoming. This one didn't acknowledge being a member & was strictly business. Here's your room key & thank you. Wasn't even sure this hotel was part of the Hilton family. The hotel & the room was fabulous. Continental breakfast was very nice. Hated that parking was off site a block away with no connecting sky walk & it was a city parking garage. The Hilton we stayed at the next night (a block or so away) used a city parking garage, had a sky walk & we were given a parking pass with in & out privileges & it was just added to our hotel bill. As a place to stay, it was VERY nice. I'm just not sure I'd stay there again, with so many other nice options.

The capital of Nebraska, Lincoln boasts an eye-catching Art Deco capitol building. Home to the sprawling University of Nebraska, scarlet-clad Cornhuskers regularly cheer on the football team at Memorial Stadium. The revitalized downtown is a mix of offices, restaurant, and retail; Haymarket, one of Lincoln's oldest neighborhoods, features a Saturday morning farmer's market from May to October.
