"Great hotel on the beach! Best for families!"
I was looking for an all inclusive hotel on the Riviera Maya to enjoy with family and the possibility to scuba dive from the location. I found the Pavo Real in Tulum to be special, and very pleasant. This is a very nice structure on the beach. The management is Italian and there is entertainment going on for children and adults "Club Med style" by one of the four pools in the South side of the resort. We thought it was fun ( the staff spoke English and italian) and my daughter lliked it so we mainly hunged around the "Club " area where she was engaged by the staff with water games and new friends. It wasn't too loud or overwhelming for us. The North side of the beach is more relaxed and mellow with drinks served in the cabanas. Don't think of a large hotel. Like most in the Tulum area, the hotel has less than 100 rooms, all located on one to two level garden structures. The food was good, prepared by a Sicilian chef who likes to serve in person his freshly made Cannoli siciliani. He won't let any other server to touch his Cannolli. The cuisine has an Italian / European flare that we liked. There is a Mexican restaurant in the hotel that requires reservations. The best part for me was the incredible opportunity to scuba dive from the hotel and in the adjacent cenote. Basically the hotel resides on the beach on one side and by the amazing Casa Cenote on the other. The cenote is good for diving and snorkelling. We had a fab time! The dive master Pepe is an expert from Cuba.

"nice hotel- terrible beach"
the hotel is delightful-beautiful rooms very comfortable beds and friendly service. the restaurant is delicious. the location stinks. the beach is tiny, impossible to swim because of rocks and huge amounts of seaweed. walking the beach in either direction is depressing-tons of trash everywhere. they were building a pier to swim off of when we were there-that might help avoid the rocky, seaweed-ish entrance to the ocean but just know its not a usable beach. it is a tiny space for all the guests to share-the hotel keeps its' beach clean but the surrounding properties do not.

"Peaceful Paradise"
Beautiful resort, peaceful and quiet. Away from the busy city part of Tulum. There's only 12 rooms so it never felt crowded. The staff is super friendly and accommodating. Upon arrival they offered us welcome drinks and a smartphone for our use. Came here for my birthday and they even decorated the room. Hotel is new which is a plus. We had a deluxe room, no need to pay extra for swim up room. We preferred to be on the upper level for better views. The jetted tubs on the balconies are not heated, which would've been nice for night time use. My only complaint about the room is the larger drain for the shower is in the main floor of the bathroom. So if you take a shower longer than 5 minutes the bathroom floor will cover with water. Great beach views, but the beach is rocky and not great for swimming. Though the pools are nice and always stayed cool despite the hot temps. It was around 90 when we were there. The beach had a strong breeze which actually made the high temps very comfortable. The food and drinks were very good. There were a few instances where they were out of some items on the menu but there was still a lot to choose from. It's free bottled water in the rooms, but they charged for water at the restaurant. The hotel is about a 15 min walk to a cenote and about a 20 min drive to the city. Hotel also has bikes for guest use. Because the hotel is new some cab drivers aren't familiar, so make sure to know the address. Very happy with our stay and would go back.

"Amazing and relaxing place"
The room had a beautiful ocean front view, all the staff was very polite and helpful. I'm not one to eat at the hotel I stay at since I prefer to explore more options but I have to say that the food was very authentic and tasteful even more than at some expensive places in south Tulum. There is a cenote right by it which was great. The overall experience was excellent, from good to accommodations to staff, to how relaxing and beautiful it was! I will come back for sure!

"Beautiful family resort"
We spent a week at Dreams Tulum for Easter and were floored by the quality of this resort. The staff is particularly nice and friendly, and the hotel grounds are beautiful and peaceful. The formula is all inclusive only, with 7 restaurants featuring international cuisine of high quality, and many bars. They propose tons of activities everyday and have an awesome entertainment team to keep you busy all day. We're a family of four with an 11 and 8 years old, and they just loved it. This all inclusive formula was a first for us, but definitely a great surprise. Highly recommended!

You’re not the average traveler — and we know it

You’ve done your homework and know exactly where you want to go. We’re here to help with some Hotwire travel geek-approved tips on how to save on your booking.

    Get away for the weekend

Hotels in bigger cities usually charge higher rates during the week, when people are traveling for business. Weekends can be a bargain! It’s the other way around for vacation spots, so if you’re looking for a beach escape, consider a mid-week trip.

    Give yourself some wiggle room

If your plans are flexible, play around with some different travel dates – a shift of a few days either way can help you save big. Prices usually jump the weekends before and after popular holidays, so we recommend steering clear of them. Or consider visiting during the off-season, when prices are generally lower.

    Plan around big events

Are prices surprisingly high? There might be a huge conference or festival in town. Consider shifting your dates if you can. Of course, if that’s why you’re going, you’ll have to bite the bullet. We’ll still work to get you the best rates out there.

    Noodle over new adventures

Set aside time to plan what you want to see, taste and discover. Nothing completes a trip, big or small, like a few new experiences! Check city apps or area websites to find out what’s new and what events are happening during your stay. Even during a family reunion, you can detour to that locals-only fish taco stand or under-the-radar music club. Your cousins will be impressed.
