Hotel Zazil Kin

Km. 0.470 Zona Arquelogica, Tulum - Map
"Camping on the Beach"
Zazil Kin (which means sun flower in the Mayan language) is a lovely little group of huts on the beach. Some have bathrooms some share a community facility. Power is only available during the evening and night (7:00 pm-7:00 am) and there is no maid service during your stay. Hot water is only available during the times when no-one else has used it. (which for us was rare) Make sure and protect yourself from insects because the beach is full of ants, mosquitos and other creeping crawling critters. An insect net is supplied to protect you as you sleep. The staff was very pleasant and the small restaurant/kitchen had good food (and a sand floor which was fun). The property is open during the day to the public so many beach goers are present during the day and some at the bar during the evening. All in all very much what we expected and a very nice beach location. We would defiantly go back.

"Nice Hotel, Adults only, great service"
It was the 2nd time we had been in 6 weeks and it was even better the 2nd time. The staff remembered us. It was low season so the hotel was barely at half-capacity. It is small property with only 96 rooms by my count. 2 restaurants and room service. Lovely beach view, no beach access. Pros: Service (Santos, Nemesio, and Isiah to name just a few) is spectacular. Especially if you tip a little. $1 is currently 18 mexican pesos so a few bucks goes a long long way. The rooms are super clean and are cleaned every day. The whirlpool in the room is slow (they warn you at the front desk) but it is really really nice once it is full (about 45 minutes). We had a top floor room the 1st time and a bottom floor room the 2nd time. Bottom floor seems to be a bit noisier, but both rooms were super nice. Wifi is free in the galeria. There is a library, couches, a bar, card tables and a pool table in there too. The AC in the rooms works wonderfully, which was important to me. Both times we were there, there was someone doing some improvements to the property (painting, cleaning, new roof, tree trimming, etc). Beautiful beach view. Super nice pool with plenty of loungers and umbrellas. 4 individual hot tubs by the pool (only 1 was hot while we were there, but they were working on getting the other ones hot too). The cold towel and the chair massage at check in are a really nice bonus too. Cons: Wifi and beach access would be possible if the dock area was cleaned up some.

"Nice Hotel on the beach, great general location."
Stayed at Hotel Calaluna Tulum, and it was exactly what I thought it would be. Clean, modest hotel right on your own private beach. The beach is clean and beautiful, the staff was super friendly and helpful. They serve a light breakfast which does the trick but you are in walking distance to many other restaurants. Great location and I highly recommend this place mostly because of the beach and location. The only discomfort I had with the room was with the ventilation. There is a fan but no A/C, so it forced me and my girlfriend to be more active rather than stay in our room :)

"Above and beyond expectations"
We arrived before check-in. The hotel staff suggested we change into comfortable clothes and enjoy the pool/beach. We had breakfast on the beach. There are lovely day beds for use. The pool was cold and refreshing. Our room had a private pool which only 4 rooms had access to which was quiet and nice. The staff made my birthday very special with champagne and cake delivered to the room.

Tulum is calling — find the perfect hotel

Everyone wants to score a deal on travel, but price is just one factor to consider when booking an unforgettable hotel. Whether you’re visiting family, attending a conference or taking a well-earned vacation in Tulum, having an awesome experience should be a no-brainer.

Hotwire will hook you up! From restful nights near your flight to that prime spot in the city’s heart, we’ve done our research to bring the best options to your fingertips. Book your Tulum hotel with us now and start your next adventure.

You’re not the average traveler — and we know it

You’ve done your homework and know exactly where you want to go. We’re here to help with some Hotwire travel geek-approved tips on how to save on your booking.

    Get away for the weekend

Hotels in bigger cities usually charge higher rates during the week, when people are traveling for business. Weekends can be a bargain! It’s the other way around for vacation spots, so if you’re looking for a beach escape, consider a mid-week trip.

    Give yourself some wiggle room

If your plans are flexible, play around with some different travel dates – a shift of a few days either way can help you save big. Prices usually jump the weekends before and after popular holidays, so we recommend steering clear of them. Or consider visiting during the off-season, when prices are generally lower.

    Plan around big events

Are prices surprisingly high? There might be a huge conference or festival in town. Consider shifting your dates if you can. Of course, if that’s why you’re going, you’ll have to bite the bullet. We’ll still work to get you the best rates out there.

    Noodle over new adventures

Set aside time to plan what you want to see, taste and discover. Nothing completes a trip, big or small, like a few new experiences! Check city apps or area websites to find out what’s new and what events are happening during your stay. Even during a family reunion, you can detour to that locals-only fish taco stand or under-the-radar music club. Your cousins will be impressed.
