"4.5 hotel"
great hotel. We had a penthouse room (must have!) We would call the butler and within 30 minutes out hot tub would be full with bubbles. Three things keep this from being a 5 Star hotel. 1.turn down service was hit and miss. 2. Tried to order coffee through room service 3 times. 1 time it was past their coffee hours. 2nd time I got hung up on twice. Third time I was put on hold so long I hung up. 3. Towel card system is outdated...please those towels were not nice enough to worry about getting lost. Would we return? Yes. Service was wonderful at buffet and main bar. Beach was beautiful

"Nice pools, beautiful beach & top shelf cocktails"
This was a great choice for our winter vacation. We stayed in the newest building right next to infinity pool. The food was much better than most other resorts I've stayed at and the drinks were great also (full range of top shelf options included). It wasn't too busy during our stay, so we didn't have to wait a long time at the bar like some other reviewers have posted. The grounds were very well kept also. The workers were always quickly working to maintain something there. The down sides were that although we had the Luxury Akumal wristbands and were supposedly able to get drinks anywhere, we couldn't get any service at the beach bars. It sounded like only people from the Sian Kaan resort could get drinks there. Also, DO NOT book a reservation at the Oasis restaurant there. It was hard to find (the sign said Cozumel instead of Oasis) and the food there was terrible! Not sure why only one restaurant there would be different. The rest of the food at the resort was above expectations. My only other complaint was that the resort is so large that you have to be carted around. We we're lucky being close to the beach and pool, so it wasn't a huge deal for us. If you are further back though, it's a hike to get to the beach.

"Good resort on the beach"
Beautiful beach, plenty of palapas for shade. FYI: Much of the swim area contains rocks on the bottom, so if you're a serious swimmer, you might want water shoes. Staff friendly and helpful, great selection on the buffet. Mediterranean restaurant just okay, Brazilian very good.

"Not bad for AI!"
Be prepared to walk. A LOT! There are golf carts which run regularly, on set routes, but you'll end up logging a lot of miles at this resort, as everything seems to be set far apart. Rooms are large, but could use some renovation and updating. Fridge was re-stocked, and room was made up daily. Staying at COBA entitles guests to access the sister resort- TULUM. Highly recommended as it's on the beach, and you get 1 hour of water sports free per day, so use it if the water conditions permit. Food at both Coba and Tulum Buffets were good, with lots of options (including a dedicated kids section). Of the restaurants, I would only recommend Mikado. As you get a mini show with your meal at the communal table. Small portions at other restaurants, so you wind up at the buffet anyway. Coba is excellent for families staying with kids, as it had a kids club (as does Tulum) and a WATERPARK. The waterpark seems to be ground zero for most families, as the kids club organizers would host a daily activity there for all the kids and families. Lots of pools to choose from for those not with kids, and not interested in getting splashed. There is a Dolphinarium at Tulum as well.

"Best of everything..."
Secrets Akumal was the ultimate in luxury vacation. Everything from the hotel in itself, to the rooms, pool, food, entertainment was all top notch. What put the vacation over the top was the fact that at any time snorkeling, paddle boarding & kayaking was available right off the beach to go hang out with the sea turtles (could see at least 10 every time we went out for 30 minutes)! Would recommend to any couple looking for the best vacation of their life!!!

"It is an excellent hotel with beach, "
We really enjoy our vacations!!. The hotel is very nice and all the stuff are very nice and kindly . the food is very good and the hotel has different activities for the guests, adults and kids. Also the hotel offer yoga, pilates, wellness classes, beach volleyball, dancing classes like salsa, merengue, bachata etc. Every night we enjoy the shows in the hotel theatre. The entertainment people are awsome as well as all the rest of the employees, they really want you to enjoy your stay in the hotel. We hear music in the hotel from the mariachis, piano live music, trio musical. They have a sport center with billar table, ping pong table etc.We walked thru the beach and go into the ocean. The hotel is 15min close to tulum ruins and the town and also to xcaret and cenotes and xplore. Playa del Carmen is 30 minutes from the hotel and akumal is at 5 minutes and playa aventura.

Akumal is calling — find the perfect hotel

Everyone wants to score a deal on travel, but price is just one factor to consider when booking an unforgettable hotel. Whether you’re visiting family, attending a conference or taking a well-earned vacation in Akumal, having an awesome experience should be a no-brainer.

Hotwire will hook you up! From restful nights near your flight to that prime spot in the city’s heart, we’ve done our research to bring the best options to your fingertips. Book your Akumal hotel with us now and start your next adventure.

You’re not the average traveler — and we know it

You’ve done your homework and know exactly where you want to go. We’re here to help with some Hotwire travel geek-approved tips on how to save on your booking.

    Get away for the weekend

Hotels in bigger cities usually charge higher rates during the week, when people are traveling for business. Weekends can be a bargain! It’s the other way around for vacation spots, so if you’re looking for a beach escape, consider a mid-week trip.

    Give yourself some wiggle room

If your plans are flexible, play around with some different travel dates – a shift of a few days either way can help you save big. Prices usually jump the weekends before and after popular holidays, so we recommend steering clear of them. Or consider visiting during the off-season, when prices are generally lower.

    Plan around big events

Are prices surprisingly high? There might be a huge conference or festival in town. Consider shifting your dates if you can. Of course, if that’s why you’re going, you’ll have to bite the bullet. We’ll still work to get you the best rates out there.

    Noodle over new adventures

Set aside time to plan what you want to see, taste and discover. Nothing completes a trip, big or small, like a few new experiences! Check city apps or area websites to find out what’s new and what events are happening during your stay. Even during a family reunion, you can detour to that locals-only fish taco stand or under-the-radar music club. Your cousins will be impressed.
