Easy check in process despite arriving early. Hotel grounds very well maintained. Nice, quiet pool near the bungalows. Friendly staff.
A couple of criticisms relating to noise. We stayed in room 478, this sits directly above the resturant which has various entertainment acts on, the acts were very loud at times we were trying to nap. Also, the good morning song at around 10:30 each day was irritating given our late nights.
However, there are areas of the hotel/bungalows where this noise can be avoided

"Nice hotel, good facilities in a convenient area."
The hotel is well situated, within a few minutes walk to the beach, and also close to many bars, restaurants and shops. Although the pool area isn't massive, it's a lovely area, and we never struggled to find a sunbed. The hotel has the added benefits of having a spa and wellness area in the basement of the building (including a great Dead Sea pool!), plus a rooftop terrace with a jacuzzi pool, sunbeds and a shower, etc. The all inclusive food and drink variety was good, with quite a good selection each day.
Our stay was out of the main season, so there weren't many children or families there, and didn't appear to be any childrens' activities running - though I think they do have some during the summer season.
Overall, a very good hotel with good facilities.

The resort was much better then what I expected! From what I read on trip advisor, I was expecting the worst, but it wasn't that bad at all. It is MUCH close to Yumbo Gay Bars then what I expected (2 short blocks) and the bungalows were basic, but cute. The bartenders were very friendly as were the guests. The drinks were reasonably priced and there was even a happy hour! The down side is that the bar closes at 5, 5:30pm even if there are guys (like me) wanting that extra drink. Bring your own booze is HIGHLY recommended. Not to much greenery and not a party place. It can be as alone or as social as you want it to be. Ok for both single and couples. Some cruising but not creepy. Mostly British and German. Bungalow have a living room with couch and TV, a nice bathroom and the bedroom (a bit dark with two twin beds put together, but ok). There is a nice size pool (that is blue, not green) and a good size hot tube. There is also a coin operated pool table that was fun. All in all I would definetly recommend it. Thinks to keep in mind: No 24 hour concierge (Which could be good ) , Bar closes too early and bungalow is basic. Positives SOOO close to Yumbo and Gay bars yet not loud. Price is unbeatable (compared to what guys I met at the bars paid for theirs). Not too far from the ocean. Hope this helps. Oh, and yes, MEN Only, it is true. No women. As far as smoking: Anywhere in the Bungalow and outside (I'm a smoker so I loved it)

These apartments are ideally located. Very short walk to the beach and numerous shops, bars and restaurants along the front but only 10 mins from the Yumbo centre. Even though so centrally located this was quiet at night so no bother sleeping etc. Apartments are maybe a little dated but they are spotlessly clean and everything is provided. The fresh rolls every morning is a lovely and very welcome treat. But also robes, beach towels etc. They have thought of everything you might need.
I only met Madeleine, who was lovely, but I am sure all the staff are. This was my first trip to Playa de Ingles as we usually stay in Puerto Rico but I would definitely go back here to stay at these apartments.

Pocket Guide: San Bartolome de Tirajana Playa del Ingles Hotels
Playa del Inglés (literally “Beach of the English”) is Gran Canaria’s busiest tourist resort. Despite the name, its superb long golden sands are popular with many north European nationalities. There is no single focus to this man-made resort; instead it clusters around 11 shopping centres. The island and Playa del Inglés in particular, is a magnet for gay holidaymakers; its heady nightlife ranges from drag cabaret to sleek upmarket clubs.
