"Pleasant Hotel Near Grasmere Village"
We had a very enjoyable stay at the hotel once the room we were first allocated was changed. The first room we were given was small with no outlook but a wall, but the worst thing about it was a generator noise of some sort, never ending drone, which kept me awake all night. Next morning asked to change rooms. The lovely receptionist was so apologetic and eventually managed to get us a much better, bigger with a garden outlook. We then had a lovely stay. All the staff were pleasant, helpful and very friendly. It is because of them that the hotel has a decent rating. Plenty of free parking, free wifi, breakfast was good, dinner was Ok but not a fine dining experience. You can walk into Grasmere Village quite easily from the hotel. It's an old building with a 'country house' decor, so if you like modern furnishings, don't choose this hotel.

"Lovely place to stay "
Great hotel. Had some problems getting the room originally ordered with a view. Had to move on 2nd night after argument that a view of a car park was not in line with what had been promised at booking. Restaurant expensive but excellent although limited - to be expected from such a small hotel. Would visit again but would need reassurance that booking and actuality matched.

"Wonderful home, with wonderful staff"
Hazel, Ian and Auntie Chris were wonderful hosts. We had a shared bathroom that was no problem. Beautiful old manse with attractive, professionally gardened grounds. Room was like out of a movie. Orchids, fresh flowers, beautifully furnished and kept. Bathroom was huge with upscale amenities. Royal Worchestershire china and nicknacks. Breakfast included and fit for royalty. Hazel has done well with this property and is a gracious hostess that works very hard to keep the guests happy. Ian is a horticultural genius and the gardens are fragrant and pleasing to the eye. We also got to see the prize guinea pigs! Unlike other old properties, this is a very comfortable place to stay. Parking was easy.

"Wonderful old hotel"
Everything was excellent. Freshed cooked breakfast to order. Two small concerns. No elevator so be sure to request a first floor room if walking up stairs is a problem. Also the Nanny Brow does not have a restaaurant so all other meals must be taken elsewhere. However, there is so much to see and do in the lake district, we were always outside anyway.

"Beautiful hotel very close to Keswick town centre"
We first stayed at this hotel about 15 years ago and altough very grand and historic, it was looking a little tired. However, it has had a total transformation so we booked it for my 'special birthday' and were not dissappointed. The hotel has been modernised and looks amazing, the decor and furnishings are very high quality and give a wonderful look, also the new bar area which has been totally transformed from what was previously there, very classy. The food in the restaurant was very of very high quality and wonderfully presented and the staff are very friendly and polite. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and will be returning again very soon.

Howtown is calling — find the perfect hotel

Everyone wants to score a deal on travel, but price is just one factor to consider when booking an unforgettable hotel. Whether you’re visiting family, attending a conference or taking a well-earned vacation in Howtown, having an awesome experience should be a no-brainer.

Hotwire will hook you up! From restful nights near your flight to that prime spot in the city’s heart, we’ve done our research to bring the best options to your fingertips. Book your Howtown hotel with us now and start your next adventure.

You’re not the average traveler — and we know it

You’ve done your homework and know exactly where you want to go. We’re here to help with some Hotwire travel geek-approved tips on how to save on your booking.

    Get away for the weekend

Hotels in bigger cities usually charge higher rates during the week, when people are traveling for business. Weekends can be a bargain! It’s the other way around for vacation spots, so if you’re looking for a beach escape, consider a mid-week trip.

    Give yourself some wiggle room

If your plans are flexible, play around with some different travel dates – a shift of a few days either way can help you save big. Prices usually jump the weekends before and after popular holidays, so we recommend steering clear of them. Or consider visiting during the off-season, when prices are generally lower.

    Plan around big events

Are prices surprisingly high? There might be a huge conference or festival in town. Consider shifting your dates if you can. Of course, if that’s why you’re going, you’ll have to bite the bullet. We’ll still work to get you the best rates out there.

    Noodle over new adventures

Set aside time to plan what you want to see, taste and discover. Nothing completes a trip, big or small, like a few new experiences! Check city apps or area websites to find out what’s new and what events are happening during your stay. Even during a family reunion, you can detour to that locals-only fish taco stand or under-the-radar music club. Your cousins will be impressed.
