When we arrived we checked in and were told our room wasn't ready, so we went out to Lunch and when we came back we collected our luggage and went to our room, but the room still hadn't been cleaned or made up. So we went back to reception to complain and we were asked to wait in the bar until it was ready, the hotel gave us a free drink.

"Grand entrance and good restaurant but shabby room"
Stayed for 2 nights at end November 2016. Really love the central location and grand reception area. Coopers restaurant served a very good evening meal. Polite check-in staff. Concierge service OK.
The room on the second floor was disappointing; dated, a little shabby and the window frames were rusty and dirty. Poor attention to detail, for example, the wardrobe contained only 6 hangers between 2 people.
I had expected more of the room from this famous Manchester landmark.

Had a very early check-in and did not want to risk / brave the traffic on the M6 / M56 so stayed at this hotel. Had previously stayed at other hotels on the airport site, but this one is - in my opinion - the better of them. Staff were great the room was very comfortable and very well appointed and the food and drink were not as highly priced as I had expected (phew!). Would we stay here again?? Yes, I would think so.

Can't beat the location for such a good price - right in the centre of the city with a 24hr store around the corner, opposite the cinema, and at Christmas it's ideal with the huge German market on the doorstep. Fantastic staff, massive bathtub and king size beds. If you're in Birmingham to enjoy the city it's the only place to stay and the best end to a night out. Will definitely keep returning.

The hotel foyer is bright and cheerful and the check in is quick and efficient. Once onto your hotel room floor the atmosphere changes to being a little dull and dark. The rooms are becoming a little worn with chipped surfaces and poor amounts of power sockets in the room (you need some beside the bed). The room is an excellent size and bright with large windows. The television in the room is tiny for the size of the area it's covering. The view out of the room is great across the city. At times it can be a little noisy with the traffic but it does quieten down through the night. For my taste the bed is a little soft and you tend to roll together. The bathroom has a shower over the bath which works well.
Breakfast has an excellent selection and there are items which can be ordered and cooked for you. The dining room has been well furnished in it's time but it also requires an update. The arms of the chairs are worn and stained and I loved the wine cooler installation.
It's time for a little investment in the hotel to bring it up to scratch for the future. It's not a bad place to stay by any means just a little worn.
The employees are excellent.
