Well located hotel for travel to any part of Lake District, and just a short walk from Grasmere village. Plenty of free car parking space at side of hotel. Staff were friendly. Good size bedroom, with traditional but tasteful decoration. Nice dining room, with adequate choice of breakfast foods. Would stay there again for a return visit to the area.

"Winter break"
Overall, I was impressed by our stay. The newly refurbished hotel is tastefull and is in a lovely part of the lakes. Impressed by the staff on reception and in the restaurant, who were polite, friendly and couldn't do enough for you. The end of our stay was soured by our spa visit, whilst the majority of the staff there and the facilities were great, the lady on reception (possibly management?!) was talking very loudly on the phone when we arrived, and didn't acknowledge our arrival in the slightest. I'd of been fine with this, however, we had our treatment then went to use the facilities for a couple of hours. Upon getting changed at the end of the day, my wife had received an abrupt voicemail from the lady on reception asking why we had not paid for our treatment and urging us to call back to pay over the phone - whilst we were still using the facilities? She also said we had given an incorrect room number - this wasn't the case, and if she'd bothered to acknowledge our arrival she'd of heard us tell another lady there that we had checked out that morning but had booked in for a treatment that afternoon. If she'd bothered to check the signing in book she'd of seen that we were still there as we hadn't signed out. The final straw was the lack of acknowledgment as we left despite leaving this message on my wife's phone, she was busy ordering games from a toyshop on the phone, I can only assume Christmas shopping. Disgustingly rude that unfortunately tarnished a lovely stay.

"Wonderful 'family-feel' hotel"
We stayed for two nights for my boyfriend's birthday - the hotel itself is beautiful, as are it's surroundings. The welcome was warm and the room was very clean and beautifully decorated. All the staff couldn't do enough for us - homemade cakes were left for us each day, drinks served on request and anything we asked for was attended to with no problems at all. Although the weather wasn't great, the lounge area of the hotel meant we were never bored. Breakfast was lovely. We will definitely be returning!

"Room needed improvement "
Our room was dated with woodchip wallpaper and old wardrobes, however the bed was comfortable, we were not aware when booking it is s vegitarian hotel could not see it stated anywhere when booking, the road to the hotel is narrow and if it goes dark early you are stuck in the hotel, there is no bar but you are offered a limited choice of drinks, would say again when improved but not in winter.

Ambleside is calling — find the perfect hotel

Everyone wants to score a deal on travel, but price is just one factor to consider when booking an unforgettable hotel. Whether you’re visiting family, attending a conference or taking a well-earned vacation in Ambleside, having an awesome experience should be a no-brainer.

Hotwire will hook you up! From restful nights near your flight to that prime spot in the city’s heart, we’ve done our research to bring the best options to your fingertips. Book your Ambleside hotel with us now and start your next adventure.

You’re not the average traveler — and we know it

You’ve done your homework and know exactly where you want to go. We’re here to help with some Hotwire travel geek-approved tips on how to save on your booking.

    Get away for the weekend

Hotels in bigger cities usually charge higher rates during the week, when people are traveling for business. Weekends can be a bargain! It’s the other way around for vacation spots, so if you’re looking for a beach escape, consider a mid-week trip.

    Give yourself some wiggle room

If your plans are flexible, play around with some different travel dates – a shift of a few days either way can help you save big. Prices usually jump the weekends before and after popular holidays, so we recommend steering clear of them. Or consider visiting during the off-season, when prices are generally lower.

    Plan around big events

Are prices surprisingly high? There might be a huge conference or festival in town. Consider shifting your dates if you can. Of course, if that’s why you’re going, you’ll have to bite the bullet. We’ll still work to get you the best rates out there.

    Noodle over new adventures

Set aside time to plan what you want to see, taste and discover. Nothing completes a trip, big or small, like a few new experiences! Check city apps or area websites to find out what’s new and what events are happening during your stay. Even during a family reunion, you can detour to that locals-only fish taco stand or under-the-radar music club. Your cousins will be impressed.
