"Good hotel location for City and Arena "
This hotel is in an excellent location for the city, shopping and the Metro Arena, which is why we chose it, on arrival the car park was full but the staff organised a space for us immediately , the main gentleman on those duties was lovely throughout our stay, and very helpful, the hotel is nicely designed and clean, I do have a couple of issues, the room was ver hot and the window only opened a little, was a Dyson fan but we were still too hot, also we booked a river view room but I couldn't see the river, the fire alarm went off briefly twice at 1-2am,when we enquired we were told it was a technical fault but the staff were running around closing fire doors, there is also a pub directly underneath the hotel which was clearly heard in our room (817) both the loud music and noise of the people shouting etc went on until 3am ish and there were car horns beeping throughout, I am easy going and it was Sat night in a city but I can imagine this would not suit a lot of people trying to get a good nights rest , breakfast was adequate also but my partner did find a black hair in his at the end, he has a shaved head so not sure whose that was, but these things happen, all in all it was a good stay.

"Hotel in excellent location"
Hotel is close to city centre and quayside. Fellow guests not very considerate, loud talking and door slamming at 2 a.m. both nights! Would be very loud at week ends I think.

"Central hotel, clean and comfy"
Great location and a friendly welcome. Room was spacious, clean and comfortable. One thing spoilt it: the shower was a trickle and when mentioned at reception "thank you for letting us know" was the resolve. Otherwise, great.

"Trendy hotel right across from Millennium Bridge"
Having stayed in the Newcastle Malmaison many times before, I will always recommend this hotel as one of the top 3 in Newcastle. Location is right across from the Millennium Bridge on the riverside Quayside area and it's walking distance from the city centre. There are plenty of buses which leave just across from the hotel. This is a modern design boutique style hotel, but very comfortable. Rooms are really comfortable, spacious and nicely designed, plus the beds are very comfortable. Tea and coffees come with tasty biscuits which is great. Staff are always friendly here and although there is no swimming pool, there is a beauty salon/spa downstairs with various beauty treatments available and sauna. I haven't eaten in the restaurant for years as it's changed a bit and myself and my friends who I've stayed with here admit that we prefer the bar when it was the lounge overlooking the riverside, don't really like how it is now. It's still open late to guests, but lacks the cool, relaxed atmosphere it had when it was the other side. The bar at the Mal's sister hotel the Hotel Du Vin a short walk away is actually nicer. There is a Starbucks joined onto the hotel by the main entrance, but beware that because it's part of the hotel, the prices are more than on the usual high street Starbucks. There is another coffee shop down the road, Pitcher and Piano restaurant opposite the hotel on the riverside and lots more nearby. For location and stylish rooms, this is where to stay!

"very handy to train station - an easy walk"
room was small but expected that. breakfast was probably over-priced for what it was but it was convenient to eat at the hotel. my first night there was a large group of young people staying and they were very noisy and dis-organised.

You’re not the average traveler — and we know it

You’ve done your homework and know exactly where you want to go. We’re here to help with some Hotwire travel geek-approved tips on how to save on your booking.

    Get away for the weekend

Hotels in bigger cities usually charge higher rates during the week, when people are traveling for business. Weekends can be a bargain! It’s the other way around for vacation spots, so if you’re looking for a beach escape, consider a mid-week trip.

    Give yourself some wiggle room

If your plans are flexible, play around with some different travel dates – a shift of a few days either way can help you save big. Prices usually jump the weekends before and after popular holidays, so we recommend steering clear of them. Or consider visiting during the off-season, when prices are generally lower.

    Plan around big events

Are prices surprisingly high? There might be a huge conference or festival in town. Consider shifting your dates if you can. Of course, if that’s why you’re going, you’ll have to bite the bullet. We’ll still work to get you the best rates out there.

    Noodle over new adventures

Set aside time to plan what you want to see, taste and discover. Nothing completes a trip, big or small, like a few new experiences! Check city apps or area websites to find out what’s new and what events are happening during your stay. Even during a family reunion, you can detour to that locals-only fish taco stand or under-the-radar music club. Your cousins will be impressed.
