This is a classic Miami Beach vacation. I was there during Music Week/Ultra, which was not so pleasant for someone not attending the concert. I found that the pool area at the hotel was not only WAY overcrowded by people I suspect were not hotel guests - but you literally could not escape the throbbing music.
That being said, it is a nice resort hotel.

The gentleman that took care of me during check in was very nice and helpful. Beautiful ocean view from the balcony. Delicious room service for breakfast. Very close to the beach. Overall had a great experience with my stay.

This was a pleasant hotel, and the lobby and surrounding areas are very nice! The restaurant overlooks the pool and Oceanview which is awesome! Theres lots of different places to eat and dine out at at this hotel. The concierge provides lots of different types of brochures and helpful information for things to do for your vacation. Nice staff, clean hotel, and the pool is heated so thats good!

Had a business/please combo at this great hotel. It's pricey and you need to push a little at checkin in order to match all your preferences with what you actually get assigned, but overall the stay was excellent. The king corner room had a pretty useless view on one side (highway) and a spectacular view front facing - so not having a corner may be one way to trim your budget. Absolute perfect picture of sunrise over the ocean every morning - the pool is really great for all ages. clean, well laid out and nice cabanas at first cone basis. Poolside bar and food available but not brought tot your lounge chair. They provide beach towels and two beach chairs. You can pay extra for an umbrella, but the pool was so nice (heated and open 24 hours).
There is a gate from the pool to take you directly to the little fun spot plaza with ice-cream parlor and The Parrot.,
Hands down the best feature is the bistro restaurant really undercredits itself. Made the mistake of eating out one night only to decide we would have been better off dining at the Bistro. Excellent breakfast - buffet or a la carte. Staff is absolutely amazing.
This hotel even managed spring breakers with diplomacy - you saw them but didn't 'feel' them.
The valet parking is pricey and there's not much of a lobby scene although there is a small bar, but overall I cannot wait to go back to this hotel. They also offer a [paid] shuttle to MIA.

The W is a little confusing when you first arrive as they don't have a traditional entrance and you have to use multiple elevators to gain access to your room. The rooms are a little noisy from both adjoining and hallway noise a bit more than expected from a hotel of this caliber. The $55 million renovation seems to be new carpet, paint, and a new pool deck, we didn't notice much else. The multiple elevator situation and the constant use of your room key to get around the hotel, elevator and public area doors, makes for a pain especially when you are in your bathing suit and have to keep your key with you at all times as this is a beach front hotel. Still undecided if we will return this was our second attempt. We had a rough check in but the front desk did alleviate the situation. Beach chairs were included in the daily resort fee a big plus compared to some other hotels nearby.
