You don't have to be a wealthy retiree to appreciate Boca Raton, although there's no denying that demographic makes up a large portion of Boca's fan base. Beaches, golfing, art and shopping all come together nicely and offer a dignified experience for the discerning traveler.
The best place to part with some money is Mizner Park, Boca's upscale outdoor shopping mall and social center. Lined with palm trees, boutiques and restaurants, Mizner Park is anchored at one end by an amphitheater and the Boca Raton Museum of Art. Here you can go shopping, grab lunch, take in some culture and enjoy happy hour before catching an outdoor performance.
But Boca isn't all about conspicuous consumption. It also happens to be home to Gumbo Limbo Nature Center, where you'll find an excellent boardwalk trail, sea turtle rehabilitation, a butterfly garden and sea tanks. And if you're up for a little snorkeling, South Inlet Park and Red Reef Park both have reefs just offshore where you can peep at marine creatures.
