We stayed in a two bedroom unit beside the pool and enjoyed the unit, location close to other restaurants, airport, hire car facilities, etc. Staff were always friendly and tried to help, however quite a few things to work on and improve if really wanting to be consider in the higher quality resorts.

We stayed for 9 nights, wish we could stay for a bit longer. Beautiful location. Quite and relaxing as it's audlt only. Nothing too much trouble for the staff, they go out of their way to make sure yoj have an fantastic stay. Facilities are really good, really clean. Marine reserve right in front, great for snorkeling. Great daily activities, especially the around the island tour. Enjoy watching the sunset while having cocktails. Can't wait to go back.

What a fantastic place to stay. Everything about Magic Reef Baumgalows was amazing. We had an absolute beachfront bungalow which really was right on the beach. The bungalows are lovely, spacious and clean and the outdoor shower/bathroom is great. They have a king size bed and a fold out couch. We went with our two teenage sons so they put in two single beds also. The pool is lovely, plenty of nice outdoor furniture. As there are only nine bungalows it's very quiet and private. The owner, Angela, went out of her way to make our stay enjoyable. Even drove us to the shop and to Aroa. I don't usually go to the same place twice as there are so many lovely places in the world to see, however we definitely intend to go back to Magic Reef.

We arrived mid afternoon, picked up our car at the airport and went to the motel. Nobody home. Did a circle island trip and went back at 4. Still nobody. Found out that the owner lived across the road so I went to see him. Apparently our booking hadn't come through. He came over, upgraded us to two beachfront units, apologised profusely, got us all sorted out, and we started the holiday. No stress!
From then on, we simply got on with our holiday. There were four of us, me, my son, his partner and 5 year old son. We spent plenty of time in the water, and did lots of other island stuff during the day. The beach was superb and pretty quiet. We were in fact the only guests, it being the low season (early January).
The Reef isn't a five star establishment or a resort, but it's got all you need to enjoy your holiday. Don't go there if you get stressed by things that aren't pristinely clean or lack of airconditioning.

A wonderful two weeks. Michelle and Paul can't do enough for you. The place is not luxury but it more than makes up for it with it's wonderful location right on the beach, snorkeling outside your front door, free snorkeling equipment, great food and the beach bar, bus stop right outside and mini market across the road. I had booked a Beach Side unit but when I got there I was in a Sea View unit, further from the beach than what the Expedia description said. Michelle arranged for me to transfer to the beach side unit during the second week. In addition, I gave Paul some feedback that the room needed some light maintenance and they attended to it. The first room I stayed in, Room 7, could do with a bit of refurbishment.
WiFi is expensive and it tends to drop out a bit but this is the case throughout the island. The beach side lounges could also do with replacement as some were broken and the mattresses well worn. The light tropical breakfast was abundant and more than enough if you didn't want a (paid) cooked breakfast. The food in the restaurant was very good as were the yakitory kebabs at the beach side bar. The only thing that is not made clear in the booking is that the restaurant is not open for lunch. In addition, staying over Xmas/NY meant that the restaurant and bar were closed for two days at a time and finding somewhere to eat when you don;t have transport was a bit inconvenient. I also expected there to be some entertainment or a special meal on for Xmas/NY.

My partner and I were looking for a beach holiday with plenty of outdoor activities. Therefore we wanted to stay in a place that would be reasonably priced, clean, couple friendly and allowed you not to be cramped into a one room hotel. Coral Sands Apartments not only delivered but went beyond our expectations. The one bedroom apartment is very spacious allowing us to relax (watch a movie or cook) in the open plan kitchen/lounge or to drink cocktails (whilst sun baking on our lounges) in our own outdoor area.
Brett & Eve (the owners) were friendly and hospitable offering advice on various activities etc and ensured we had everything we needed in the apartment (e.g. they had milk, cereal & bread in the fridge for us, mobile phone with credit etc.). The apartment is like renting a house on the island (just on a smaller scale with 5 close neighbours) having everything you could possibly need (books, movies, snorkels, TV etc).
The location of the Coral Sands in Arorangi, is ideal. It enables you to escape the tourist areas but also forces you to get out and see what is on offer around the island. For example, the beach outside if the apartments is not great but this worked to our advantage; we beached hopped and snorkeled all around the island.
Overall, the apartment was clean and modern and we would definitely return.

Great privacy, service and accommodation. We hired a car which was easier as although it was close to one shop it gave us more flexibility to explore the island. Although not noted on the website the TV does have a built in DVD player which was great for night times as not much on the Rarotonga TV channels. Thank you so much for a perfect week!

We had previously visited Sunset for meals and cocktails a few years ago and loved it, therefore booked for our recent stay. We were very pleased with our choice. The room was well maintained with great aircon and cooking facilities. We were close to the pool but could easily walk to see the ocean view. The included breakfast was fresh and plentiful. We only ate at the restaurant once for a main meal as we wanted to experience lots of other eateries - the meal was lovely but the service fairly average by Rarotongan standards. The pool and common facilities were lovely and the area fairly quiet apart from the usual morning roosters.

On the Western edge of the island of Rarotonga in the Cook Islands, Arorangi is a paradise of white sand beaches. Accessible to the ancient Polynesian road which encircles the island, Arorangi is also a good starting point for exploration of the island's rugged interior. Both the faithful and curious flock to the area's historic coral churches.
