"Highly recommended"
Stayed here for 4 nights during our visit to Rotorua for a short break and an ultra race. Enjoyed the room tremendously - Holiday Inn can never go wrong and the Rotorua branch certainly did not disappoint us. Our room was extremely spacious and very comfortable. We had 2 double beds with different pillows of various firmness to rest our heads. The bathroom is spacious too with good quality towels and toiletries provided for. Shower was strong and hot water was great! Room service was delivered promptly and punctually as estimated and the food was beyond excellent!! TV channels were good and we watched some really good movies while we were there. We were impressed that the hotel has allocated rooms at a so-called "Quiet Zone" (where our room was) and we had the best sleep ever while we were there. There was a "Quiet Zone" sign as you step out the lift to remind guests to keep their voices down. We realised that other guests who arrived on tours in busloads were placed in a different section of the hotel. This, we think, is very thoughtful and we have not seen it done at any other hotels we have stayed at. We can highly recommend this hotel to others visiting the area.

"It's average"
They put us in a disabled reason, I have no idea why, but it was not very nice. I spoke to front desk to explain I had booked with them as the website description said the room had two queen beds and a bath. (Room they gave us had a single and a double and no bath). They move us to a different room which had two queen beds and a bath which was great. Grotto should be called grotty though because it was gross and smelled like pee

"Comfortable hotel on noisy road"
On a noisy road, was a bit disturbing for sleeping, lots of loud trucks roaring past. The room was comfortable, and had our own hot tub which was lovely. It was very hot, and a fan would have been good.

My colleague and I arrived after check in hours. The staff were accommodating - leaving our room key out for us. Upon entering our room, we discovered that our room overlooked a thermal area with a deck - bliss! We slept that night with the door open, falling asleep to the sound of bubbling mud and escaping steam. The room was basic but comfortable. For the cost of $85 a night we were really pleased.

Fantastic service on arrival. The manager at the front desk, Bryan could not have been more helpful. Told us where to find the main points of interest and coded it all on a map. Showed us where to find easy walks etc. Thank you.

"Everything you need for your stay in Rotorua"
The Apollo Hotel was absolutely ideal for our 2 night stay in Rotorua. We have a 10month old and the set-up of the 1-bedroom apartment was ideal for us. The staff accommodated us with a cot and let us check-out after her morning nap. The apartment had everything we needed, even things like a sieve and whisk which allowed us to cook for ourselves and baby. One night we ordered dinner from The Holiday Inn across the road, and they delivered it to our room at Apollo and let us pay the charge at check-out, which made things so easy for us. The apartment was also spacious, quiet and had a lovely warm heat pump during winter. We would definitely stay here again!

"Thermal enjoyment"
The motel is within easy walking distance of Te Puia national park with its superb geyser and thermal vents. Also a reasonable distance from Rotorua centre to enjoy the architecture and bars and restaurants. Avoid Hell Pizzas as it took over an hour for our order to be filled.

You’re not the average traveler — and we know it

You’ve done your homework and know exactly where you want to go. We’re here to help with some Hotwire travel geek-approved tips on how to save on your booking.

    Get away for the weekend

Hotels in bigger cities usually charge higher rates during the week, when people are traveling for business. Weekends can be a bargain! It’s the other way around for vacation spots, so if you’re looking for a beach escape, consider a mid-week trip.

    Give yourself some wiggle room

If your plans are flexible, play around with some different travel dates – a shift of a few days either way can help you save big. Prices usually jump the weekends before and after popular holidays, so we recommend steering clear of them. Or consider visiting during the off-season, when prices are generally lower.

    Plan around big events

Are prices surprisingly high? There might be a huge conference or festival in town. Consider shifting your dates if you can. Of course, if that’s why you’re going, you’ll have to bite the bullet. We’ll still work to get you the best rates out there.

    Noodle over new adventures

Set aside time to plan what you want to see, taste and discover. Nothing completes a trip, big or small, like a few new experiences! Check city apps or area websites to find out what’s new and what events are happening during your stay. Even during a family reunion, you can detour to that locals-only fish taco stand or under-the-radar music club. Your cousins will be impressed.
