Room was nice and comfortable with a great view of the bay. Never got the wifi to work but hey it's a vacation. Garden and banyon trees were superb and fresh seafood catches of the day right down the road. didn't try the restaurant but jacky Rey's was excellent.

Hilo Seaside Hotel

"Beautiful View of Hilo Bay"
First the lobby is old school beautiful, decked out in tropical flowers and Christmas as it was December. The facility is unique with outdoor gardens nestled in between the different sections. There is a pool lounge area also nestled in the middle of the facility. The rooms are adequately sized, big comfy beds, good TV. Outdoors is a pond full of coy fish surrounded by tropical plants and flowers and at night lit up by Tiki torches. You can walk all along Banyan Drive with State Park land in between the hotels and lovely old and huge banyan trees. At the end of the drive is the Japanese Garden. The views of Hilo Harbor are nice, and sometimes in the distance you can catch a view of Mauna Kea, the Big islands highest point at over 13,000 ft. in elevation. The Seaside is definitely a throwback to old school Hawaiian hospitality. Also is an on-site restaurant with good food although a bit $$$. We really enjoyed this location to stay on the Hilo side of the island. It is economical and a nice facility, good for families and couples. I would happily stay there again.

Over looks Hilo waterfront and airport. We had the room with balcony. Best lightning storm ever. Sat on balcony and enjoyed the show. The place is a little old, but so am I. Had a pleasant stay. Get the balcony suite.

"beautiful hotel in a secluded area"
The staff members were exceptionally helpful with local advice and even provided equipment that we'd forgotten to use for a nighttime walk to see the active lava flow. They have water shoes to use for your short walk down to the falls which was muddy during our visit due to recent heavy rains. The room was immaculate and comfortable The breakfast was simple but tasty and the attending staff were warm and attentive. Overall a pleasant experience. Would definitely stay again.

The hotel is ok. I was not happy with the room accommodation. My room looked dirty. The floor was not kept with paint stains on the wood floor. The closet stunk, looked like a storage. Nobody changed my bed sheets/ nor cleaned my room. Nobody cleaned the bathroom till the 4th night stay until we told Maureen about it. No lock on front door, no lock on our room.

"I'm easy to please but....."
The location was perfect for me. Totally quiet. There were some cleanliness issues with my room and the shared kitchen (hair on the shower wall, dried contacts stuck to the wall by the bathroom garbage. Really minor stuff to me). While I was there a guest actually took the time to clean the kitchen. It really didn't bother me. I'm a bachelor. My only complaint would be the bed. It was a futon mattress on a box spring (I think) and the first night the frame broke but there was a wooden stool under there so I'm sure they new about it. Really wasn't an issue other than safety from the sharp metal. But the bed was hard as a rock. That was only for my room. #10. From what I saw in the other rooms, they appeared to have regular beds and mattresses. If I ever do go back to Hilo I would definitely consider staying there again. If your looking for a traditional B&B it is not. The kitchen is open 24/7 which is nice if you want to just cook for yourself. They did provide bread, milk, cereal, eggs, bacon, fresh fruit and maybe a few other things I missed. Overall it was a 3/5 for me. If I had still been married, my wife would of made us leave after the first night but like I said. I'm easy. Mahalo

Hilo is calling — find the perfect hotel

Everyone wants to score a deal on travel, but price is just one factor to consider when booking an unforgettable hotel. Whether you’re visiting family, attending a conference or taking a well-earned vacation in Hilo, having an awesome experience should be a no-brainer.

Hotwire will hook you up! From restful nights near your flight to that prime spot in the city’s heart, we’ve done our research to bring the best options to your fingertips. Book your Hilo hotel with us now and start your next adventure.

You’re not the average traveler — and we know it

You’ve done your homework and know exactly where you want to go. We’re here to help with some Hotwire travel geek-approved tips on how to save on your booking.

    Get away for the weekend

Hotels in bigger cities usually charge higher rates during the week, when people are traveling for business. Weekends can be a bargain! It’s the other way around for vacation spots, so if you’re looking for a beach escape, consider a mid-week trip.

    Give yourself some wiggle room

If your plans are flexible, play around with some different travel dates – a shift of a few days either way can help you save big. Prices usually jump the weekends before and after popular holidays, so we recommend steering clear of them. Or consider visiting during the off-season, when prices are generally lower.

    Plan around big events

Are prices surprisingly high? There might be a huge conference or festival in town. Consider shifting your dates if you can. Of course, if that’s why you’re going, you’ll have to bite the bullet. We’ll still work to get you the best rates out there.

    Noodle over new adventures

Set aside time to plan what you want to see, taste and discover. Nothing completes a trip, big or small, like a few new experiences! Check city apps or area websites to find out what’s new and what events are happening during your stay. Even during a family reunion, you can detour to that locals-only fish taco stand or under-the-radar music club. Your cousins will be impressed.
