Due to an early morning flight we required a one night stay somewhere close to the airport. Our experience was fantastic from check in right through to check out. The hotel itself is quirky and cool with a great relaxed atmosphere, the staff are all very friendly and helpful. The hotel should be commended for their attention and investment in staff training, our waitress explained that she had been taken to visit various suppliers including to see fish being landed which results in engaged knowledgeable staff who could not have been better.

"Nice, quiet hotel close to train and groeries/food"
We arrived with our kids after a very long 18 hour travel day to find a nice, quiet hotel just a few minute's walk from the train. Our firat room was decent, a little tight for four, but really not that bad. The room was clean and we just wanted the comfy beds at tha point! Scotland had unually warm weather at that time, and we couldn't get our windows open, so our room the first night was stifling. We tried calling the first night and service never came. The next morning we talked to the front desk and immediately they got us a bigger, better room with windows that opened! We were very pleased with this outcome, and really enjoyed the new room.

The hotel room was very clean and the staff were very friendly. I didn't realize I got a continental breakfast included so that was wonderful. There was a great variety of food choices available for breakfast. It was a perfect hotel for me because of the location to the airport and they have a shuttle. I wasn't charged when I took the shuttle from the airport to the hotel and I didn't realize there was a charge for the shuttle back to the airport. I was not told this when I phoned the hotel to confirm the shuttle's availability. It was only two pounds 50 pence but it would be good to be told that. Other than that, I would stay there again if I had an early flight.

"Convenient location. Not a credit to the Marriott"
I chose it because of easy access to the airport and the bridge. That was good. The restaurant was also good for two dinners and a breakfast. Three problems: 1. I probably knew that wireless internet would be an extra charge, but that practice is just nickel-and-diming; in my view it cheapens the Marriott brand. 2. Front desk/Billing: On check-in, I signed up for one pair of breakfasts, but was billed for two. Then, the night before departure, I went to the front desk specifically to clear my bill, and was assured that the bill put under my door during the night would show a zero balance. Yet when I arose at 5:15 am for an early departure, there were items on the bill that I had to discuss with staff; doing this took precious time and caused aggravation. 3. The heating/cooling system in the room was terrible. It whined and whirred, and didn't work well at all! I had two terrible sleeps, and then boarded a plane to North America, where I arrived totally exhausted. Summary: All in all, not what I expect from a Marriott.

We arrived after a two week long trek exploring other parts of the UK. We needed a break from the hustle and bustle. The quiet estate with cows, grass fields, and flowers was just what we needed to recharge. We stayed in the family room which sleeps 5. It includes a small kitchen area and sitting area with a comfy couch. There were several nice touches to help us feel at home. The owners are very warm and welcoming. Gail cooked us a great breakfast with everything you could want to start your day. The sitting area had family games and movies to keep the kids entertained if needed. The bathroom had nice soaps and soft towels (not just your typical white hard towels). My daughter enjoyed playing with their two little dogs (which aren't allowed in the guest rooms so no worry about allergies). Overall, I highly recommend if you are in the Edinburgh area and have a car (because it isn't right in town, but not too far away ) consider staying there.

Edinburgh Airport is 12 kilometres west of the city centre. It’s a relatively small but modern gateway, recently redeveloped to house more food and drink outlets. An Airlink bus service connects direct with the city centre in less than 30 minutes. Close to the airport is one of the city’s most popular attractions, Edinburgh Zoo, famous for its penguins.
