Having not stayed at Novotel before, we were pleasantly surprised at how good everything was. The staff were excellent, very friendly and helpful with our questions. I was concerned that the location, albeit ideally placed for us between the airport and Edinburgh city, might be a bit busy and noisy. However we heard no noise either from the aeroplanes or from local traffic. It was in fact one of the quietest hotels we have stayed in. Excellent all round, if we go back to Edinburgh for a visit then the Novotel is where we will stay.

"Don't eat at the hotel restaurant the Brasserie "
The hotel is an older property that has been modernized. It is stately and elegant both on the interior and the exterior. The spair with pool is excellent as are the hotel staff. It is located next to a bar that closes at 3am and there is usually 1 or more of the patrons that like to sing at the top of their lungs. Upon check in I was given a voucher for 25% off food at the Brasserie restaurant in the hotel. When we went to the restaurant the food was poor to mediocre and then when I presented my voucher they failed to honor it. Luckily the hotel has a very pro active customer service system. I was contacted several times during my stay via text on my satisfaction with the hotel. I expressed my dissatisfaction with my experience at the Brasserie and David the night manager immediately contacted me and refunded my 25%.

Hotel was in a very good location. Everything was within easy reach - shops, restaurants and public transport.
BUT it was undergoing major refurbishment. The hotel had a temporary entrance and was covered in scaffolding and plastic sheeting. Our room was quiet and nicely furnished but you needed a map to find it! Breakfast was located along a temporary corridor and staff escorted you there so you didn't get lost. There was no direct access to reception or dining area. The staff were pleasant and apologetic but I had booked this break as a special 70th birthday treat for my partner and feel that with such major work in progress we should have been informed of the disruption so we could make a choice as to changing the Hotel venue.

Nice trip good price. Lovely staff. Got moved to room as the second bed was old and could feel the springs but staff didn't hesitate to move us which was lovely of them. Breakfast was great and room service was efficient. Would like to come back for a longer stay to provide time to use the sauna as time was short on this stay. Thank you.
