We were in Edinburgh a few weeks ago for a weekend, this time I saw the offer for "mystery hotel" and decided to give it a try. We were not disappointed the hotel was fantastic, the staff were very attentive, professional, the facilities were great we had a swim, sauna and used the steam room. The room was on the fifth floor so lovely and quiet, the breakfast was as good as we have had in any of the hotels we have been in. The hotel is within walking distance of city centre however the buses to the city centre pass the hotel. The area around the hotel is vibrant the pubs really good with traditional music on show, plenty of really good eating places too,all in all a great weekend will use the hotel again.

We arrived from the states around 10 am. They were able to get us into our room and a parking spot in the lot. When it was time to explore the city. They had good recommendations for spots to grab lunch. The location was great to go to Glasgow School of Art. Staff at the bar was very nice for nibbles that night and they were accommodating to our over sleeping the morning of check out. I would definitely stay here again when in Glasgow.

I originally booked us a garden view King Room for two nights, however at check in was given a complimentary upgrade to a King Room in the Kings Spa. This was unexpected but well received. However, while the room itself was a good size and well furnished, it was immediately apparent that the previous occupant had been smoking in it.
I told the hotel of this straight away and they apologised and said that the hotel is categorically non smoking and the culprit would be fined. I opened the patio doors for a couple of hours in the hope it would air out.
The smell did not shift though and was very unpleasant. I discussed this with reception the next morning and they immediately took action and shifted us to another room. I was extremely satisfied with their action and the way they handled it. My feelings are when you pay for premium accomodation, you are entitled to premium conditions. A room smelling like an ashtray is unacceptable.
In conclusion, the hotel is beautiful, as are the furnishings, and the stay are friendly and helpful. I would stay again. I would, however, ask to not be in a room with patio doors unless the hotel can guarantee that it doesn't stink of smoke. The hotel said that some people smoke with the doors open which can cause a lingering smell.
