Clontarf Castle Hotel

Castle Avenue, Dublin - Map

"Easy to feel like royalty"
Hotel was difficult to find without the aid of a GPS because the streets aren't always clearly marked. The Hotel itself was impressive - greeted by lion sculptures we then drank in the lovely grounds and castle fa├žade upon arrival. The open reception area - a blend of the medieval with a modern centerpiece is inviting. The personalized welcome message on the TV monitor in our room was unexpected and heartwarming all at the same time. The staff lived up to the message and were extremely friendly and accommodating at all hours without exception.

"Lovely, comfortable hotel. Good quality facilities"
Staff very accommodating. Decent menu, great exec lounge providing comp continental breakfast, newspapers, big screen. Gets extremely busy when there is a football (Gaelic..rugby type) game. Croke Park Stadium across street.... Cannot get through lobby, difficult to get service at bar or restaurant, tons of security added. We were there for two weekend events... Get out of the hotel early. Found most taxi drivers very honest but rate for same trip varied from 6 to 14 Euros if you did not know area/route. Everyone is friendly and go out of their way to be helpful.

    Explore Dublin

This lively, literary city hunkered on the banks of the Liffey revels in its heritage. Dublin’s compact center displays the marks of its dramatic history – centuries of religion, revolution and resurgence. But the Irish capital is also a booming modern city, a multicultural art and high-tech hub.

Start at Dublin Castle, dating back to 1204. At stately Trinity College you can view the intricate Book of Kells, an illustrated religious masterpiece from 800 AD. Cross the O'Connell Street Bridge to the north side, where the drama of Irish independence played out in the early 20th century.

True to legend, you're never far from a great pub in Dublin. You’ll find grand 19th-century establishments as well as humble gems with corners as dark as a pint of locally brewed Guinness. Wander from one to another, enjoying the stories and boundless energy of the locals. Experience the Irish love of words in cozy bookshops and electric live theater. Sample fusion fare in Temple Bar or savor new Irish cuisine in St. Stephen's Green.
