Had a pleasant stay here for a mini break in Cardiff. The hotel is well run and the staff were very helpful. I can't comment on the breakfast as we saved some cash by going outside the hotel - there are lots of coffee shops nearby.

Nice location for the shops, theatre and main shopping areas. Room was clean and large but bed was a bit uncomfortable and bath had hair in it - was unable to remove plug from the bath as well which wasn't great. There was some noise outside but due to location that is fully expected. Breakfast was good, but we were unable to get much as they began packing everything up 30 minutes before it was due to end.
Staff friendly and overall hotel clean and bright.
Would stay here again due to location.

We paid for a family room (2 adults, 2 children) and stayed just one night. We were allocated a room on the third floor with a partial sea view. The room was spacious, clean and well heated. The room could be ventilated by opening a French style window that revealed a small balcony. There was an en-suite bathroom that has perhaps seen better days but it was adequate and I am not going to gripe about a few minor plumbing issues as our stay was not diminished significantly in any way.
All the staff we encountered were friendly and helpful. The hotel struggles to hold on to any semblance of the grandeur that it must have held in its heyday but there does seem to be an attempt to maintain the hotel to a reasonable standard.
In the evening we went down to the ballroom to watch the cabaret style entertainment and to enjoy a few drinks. We enjoyed the show and were pleased that we went.
We slept well. The beds were firm but comfortable. Breakfast was buffet style and was generally alright but could have been better. Once again I am not going to complain too much but if you prefer your English breakfast items grilled and not deep-fried you had best avoid the breakfast at this hotel.
Overall, we enjoyed our stay and found it to be better than we had expected after reading previous reviews. We all agreed that we would stay again maybe for a bit longer next time but we would give the breakfast a miss.

I had mistakenly booked the wrong month, the staff worked tirelessly for 3hours to resolve my issue. One member of staff worked way past his shift to make sure my family could be settled in. HIE staff you're a real credit to your hotel and I to see you soon.
