Comfy, spacious room. Close to nightlife although the hotel was quiet at night. Bathroom was a good size, clean. The room had good quality fittings and all finished to a high standard. Friendly staff. Would recommend.

I picked the hotel since I needed to be on the SE side of town and close to the station. It ticked all of those boxes. Being on Piccadilly it is slightly more noisy (traffic wise) in the early morning, but for me that was a minor offset to its location. I did not dine or breakfast at the hotel so can make no comment there.
Room was clean and wifi was free and fast.

Spacious executive room with high ceilings and big windows on 4th floor looking north on Portland Street, corner of Portland and Princess Streets. It was a cotton textile warehouse and has an impressive be-columned exterior. Those Victorians knew how to do warehouse! Great location. Just 12 mins walk from main rail station, 5 mins walk to the super-grand Manchester City Hall and its Albert Square. Stroll on in that same direction (you are on Princess Street, same as the hotel) and you get to trendy, buzzy Spinningfields area and a canal. Other side of canal Salford begins. Right near City Hall is the grand Library and just beyond are concert halls. But then if you stroll right along Portland Street to Piccadilly Gardens (2 blocks) you are at the entrance to edgy Northern Quarter.
The lobby and entry-floor restaurant and bar however are routine businesslike style. Clean but no inspiration at all, disappointing after the exterior.

Stayed here overnight. We got here early and our room while not immediately available was available earlier than was stated. The staff we very courteous and helpful throughout the stay. My friends reception was lovely with great food and service at the bar. Our room was spacious and clean. I can't comment on how quiet it is normally as there was a large band playing outside on the Saturday morning but there is nothing the hotel can do about that.
The breakfast was very nice and had afternoon tea with a lovely selection of teas and the again the service was second to none.
I will be very happy to stay here again.

From Manchester Cathedral on Victoria Street down to Deansgate railway station lies Deansgate, a mile long road in Manchester’s city center. Along Deansgate you’ll find offices, cocktail bars, traditional pubs, and department stores including Barton Arcade, a cast iron and glass-domed Victorian shopping center. There’s also the John Ryland’s Library, a gorgeous red sandstone neo-Gothic building.
