Tired but in process of upgrade. Not easy for disabled and no porter service to take bags to room and no lift. Staff quite nice and food very good. Lounge areas cluttered with very old furniture and poor lighting. Our renovated bathroom had faulty lighting.

"Very pleasant, quiet place to stay with pub / rest"
Overall, a pleasant stay. The bar is well stocked and cosy with an open fire, and the food good with large portions. I usually stay in town centers with a large hotel chain, so this was a bit different. The room was clean and adequate although needed the attention of the handyman on a couple of points (light bulb blown and shower needed adjustment as would not adjust to be hot enough)

"Very pleasant and accomodating staff"
The owners of the Robin Hood Inn were very pleasant and accomodating for our single night stay. Food in the pub was very nice and the breakfast was cooked fresh to order. Rooms were fine for our stay with a hot shower, TV and tean and coffee making facilities.

"Ok Hotel"
This Hotel is ok for an overnight, but it needs a lot of up dating and improvement. like a shower instead of a bath. On arrival was met by the host who was not that welcoming, where as the hostess was warm and friendly. Breakfast was good and well made. But for what you pay this hotel is ok.

"Delightful, secluded "pub hotel" in countryside"
I stayed at The Ryles Arms overnight to break up a business drive from Yorkshire to the South Coast. I also managed to fit in an afternoon visit to Gawsworth Hall and an evening concert there. The Ryles Arms is a delightful and secluded country pub, overlooking fields and rolling countryside. Its outbuildings have been converted into a small modern hotel. I stayed in Room 2 (ground floor), which - despite other reviews - definitely had good wi-fi and a clean modern bathroom. The room was quiet, day and night, with no traffic noise or creaky floors. I've had bad experiences at "pub hotels" before, but this hotel is quiet because its rooms are not over the bar. Talking of which, the beer was good. So was the full English breakfast (included with the room). There was also close and ample parking. The staff were magnificent - everyone was cordial, helpful and efficient. So I would definitely recommend the Ryles Arms for anyone wanting a peaceful stopover. Caveat: The hotel is a good 2 miles outside Macclesfield (and about 5 miles from Gawsworth Hall). If you don't have a car, I don't know how you'd get there. On the other hand, it would be an ideal base for a countryside ramble.

"overnight stay"
It was a pleasant little Inn and adequate for our overnight stay as we were attending a wedding near by. The room and bathroom were very clean. The bed was firm as we like it and the linen was cotton. Good selection of food for breakfast. On the down side the bedroom radiator didn't work although an electric heater was put in its place. We had to ask for a blanket for the bed as it was cold and we didn't want the heater left on while we were sleeping. All the carpets leading to the bedrooms need replacing.

You’re not the average traveler — and we know it

You’ve done your homework and know exactly where you want to go. We’re here to help with some Hotwire travel geek-approved tips on how to save on your booking.

    Get away for the weekend

Hotels in bigger cities usually charge higher rates during the week, when people are traveling for business. Weekends can be a bargain! It’s the other way around for vacation spots, so if you’re looking for a beach escape, consider a mid-week trip.

    Give yourself some wiggle room

If your plans are flexible, play around with some different travel dates – a shift of a few days either way can help you save big. Prices usually jump the weekends before and after popular holidays, so we recommend steering clear of them. Or consider visiting during the off-season, when prices are generally lower.

    Plan around big events

Are prices surprisingly high? There might be a huge conference or festival in town. Consider shifting your dates if you can. Of course, if that’s why you’re going, you’ll have to bite the bullet. We’ll still work to get you the best rates out there.

    Noodle over new adventures

Set aside time to plan what you want to see, taste and discover. Nothing completes a trip, big or small, like a few new experiences! Check city apps or area websites to find out what’s new and what events are happening during your stay. Even during a family reunion, you can detour to that locals-only fish taco stand or under-the-radar music club. Your cousins will be impressed.
