"Comfy old fashioned central hotel with character"
We just needed a bed for the night before an open day at the university and weren't expecting much because of the other reviews, but my son and I actually quite liked the experience. Yes it's in need of a facelift but rooms are spacious, comfortable and there is plenty of hot water. All we needed and the staff were nice

"Good hotel, clean and staff very friendly."
Good clean hotel, check in cumbersome, staff friendly, breakfast very good. Double room booked, perhaps water bottle for each person rather than one bottle for each room!

"Nice hotel halfway between Windermere and Bowness"
Situated at the top of a steep hill as the name implies, first impressions of the hotel were very good. Nice easy check-in although we were led to believe that the newspaper service was complementary as there was no mention of an additional fee (only realised when it came to check out that they charged us £4.20 for 3 papers). Not many of the rooms have a view of the Lake but this didn't really bother us as we got to see plenty of it on our travels. We were impressed with the cleanliness of the room. Breakfast was nice and I enjoyed the full English. The waiter (male) wasn't particularly welcoming on our first breakfast at the hotel which was disappointing. Not a massive choice of continental options either. We were also surprised to find the fire exit door (situated next to our hotel room) open when we returned from breakfast on the second day and it was still open when we returned from our outdoor walking adventure in the evening! When it got to 9pm I ended up closing the door. We felt this was pretty poor of the hotel in terms of safety standards. Also our tv had poor signal on the second night (no access to BBC 1 or 2). Overall we were reasonably satisfied with our stay. I think at half the price we would be very happy with the stay but as it really wasn't cheap we expected it to be much better.

"Nice place for Lake District visit "
Nice, quiet hotel, off the road in its own compound. But just a couple of minutes walk to the lake, ferry terminals and also the hub of Bowness, including pubs, restaurants, shops etc. Bit old but well maintained, with updated bathrooms. Cleverly laid out, with greenery out side every window and a lovely garden outside the dining room and lounge.

"Nice hotel in the centre of Barrow"
Stayed overnight whilst on business in Barrow-In-Furness. The hotel has a mixture of rooms and also long stay apartments. There is also is pub, where food is available in the evening and also breakfast for residents in the morning. I normally look for something predictable when travelling on business i.e. quiet well equipped room, friendly staff and a good breakfast. Jeffersons ticks all those boxes well.

"Nice remote country pub accommodation"
Staff were lovely. Bathroom very clean, modern and spacious (in deluxe room). Deluxe room was a free upgrade because it was vacant which was a nice gesture from the staff. Restaurant/pub served great lunch and evening meals (great quality and presentation) but breakfast could be improved on. Pub atmosphere was great with a pub quiz on a Thursday evening which was good fun.

"Great B&B"
Warm friendly greeting and an early check in kick started our overnight stay at the Balmoral. The traditional foyer and lounge didn't give us a clue that our bedroom would be so bright and modern. Really impressed with the decor and furnishings. The bathroom was small but very clean and modern, larger customers would find the shower cubicle a tight fit. If you're on the short side you might struggle to reach the high clothing rail. These are small points that didn't affect our satisfaction of the room. Breakfast was great. All in all a great stay. We would return if in Morecambe again and definitely recommend to family and friends.

You’re not the average traveler — and we know it

You’ve done your homework and know exactly where you want to go. We’re here to help with some Hotwire travel geek-approved tips on how to save on your booking.

    Get away for the weekend

Hotels in bigger cities usually charge higher rates during the week, when people are traveling for business. Weekends can be a bargain! It’s the other way around for vacation spots, so if you’re looking for a beach escape, consider a mid-week trip.

    Give yourself some wiggle room

If your plans are flexible, play around with some different travel dates – a shift of a few days either way can help you save big. Prices usually jump the weekends before and after popular holidays, so we recommend steering clear of them. Or consider visiting during the off-season, when prices are generally lower.

    Plan around big events

Are prices surprisingly high? There might be a huge conference or festival in town. Consider shifting your dates if you can. Of course, if that’s why you’re going, you’ll have to bite the bullet. We’ll still work to get you the best rates out there.

    Noodle over new adventures

Set aside time to plan what you want to see, taste and discover. Nothing completes a trip, big or small, like a few new experiences! Check city apps or area websites to find out what’s new and what events are happening during your stay. Even during a family reunion, you can detour to that locals-only fish taco stand or under-the-radar music club. Your cousins will be impressed.
