"Quiet location"
A bit dated inside. Only stayed one night. People walking on the creaky floor boards above our room kept us awake. Lovely view from the room.

"Nice hotel...shame about the parking"
The hotel is lovely. Very high standards. The rooms are modern with a very comfy bed. We were on the 3rd floor and had great views. Lovely grounds and restaurant. Staff were very good albeit a little stressed when we checked in. The only downside to this hotel is the lack of parking. There is only room for about 10 cars and if there isn't a space you have to use the public car park which cost us £11 - it is literally a 2 minute walk but is inconvenient and a bit of a sham when they don't follow though with their disabled parking policy (we unloaded using the disabled spot for 5 minutes then a brand new sports car parks there all day and night with no disabled badge!). Bit inconsiderate but I'm sure this must happen all the time!!! On the whole though, a good stay and would use hotel again if in Exeter.

"lovely hotel, centrally located, attentive staff."
Perfectly located in the town centre close to Exeter Cathedral and plenty of bars and restaurants. We came here to meet with family and relax and it was perfect for us. The staff were very attentive, especially housekeeping and at breakfast time. The bar staff were friendly and helpful. The gym and pool are lovely facilities and staff here made is feel welcome. Reception staff checked us in and out with ease and answered all our queries. The whole hotel feels comfortable and well organised and we would love to come again.

"Great B&B - superb breakfast"
We enjoyed our stay in a comfortable, spotlessly clean & freshly redecorated room. A great range of options was presented for breakfast and they tasted great. The hotel is a mere 10mn walk from the beach which was no trouble whatsoever and probably means the location is quieter when things get really busy. I think the only downside is that there is no room or lounge available for residents, so once we'd put our 5-year old to bed, there was nowhere we could spend the evening.

"Nice hotel in the centre"
Hi nice location of the hotel in the city centre nearby all attractions within walking distance restaurants just up the road I got there about six o'clock and parked in the car park opposite the hotel which was free from six to 8 in the morning had to get up before 8 am to put a ticket on my car which was six pounds for the whole day until the next morning 8am which is reasonable bcoz of location of hotel got in checked in went smoothly the lady was nice to show me where I could go to visit attractions and restaurants she gave us a map got to my room looked nice bathroom nice too with good shower head bed was comfortable but then did my own inspection of room the table in between the beds was so dusty and the kettle was as well but found it clean the next day morning breakfast was nice the first day the Asian lady was nice & friendly but the second day was awful we got there and no hello or smile just asked us for tea & coffee straight away placed my order as the same as the day before got scrambled eggs a bit undercooked with too much salt added to it which made me feel sick also my wife ordered an omelette which was cooked one side & raw in the middle and also contained too much salt in it too we left that & had tea & Danish pastries which was nice apart from that enjoyable stay good location receptionists were nice & helpful

"Nice location with pretty gardens. "
Although we didn,t have a sea view, the rear of the hotel faces the car park with trees around and a road opposite leading up to a pleasant view of the town. Our room was on a floor where you needed to go down or up to get the lift. This was difficult with cases and my husband having had strokes and a heart condition. (However on our way out the Hotel manager was going down stairs at the same time and offered to carry my case down for me, which was much appreciated). As a review I saw before we went said, the mattresses were rather hard, could do with a topper! We booked through Expedia. com and was told when we arrived that the choice of rooms is very limited(5%), and most rooms are bookable direct through Shearings. I would definitely consider visiting again

You’re not the average traveler — and we know it

You’ve done your homework and know exactly where you want to go. We’re here to help with some Hotwire travel geek-approved tips on how to save on your booking.

    Get away for the weekend

Hotels in bigger cities usually charge higher rates during the week, when people are traveling for business. Weekends can be a bargain! It’s the other way around for vacation spots, so if you’re looking for a beach escape, consider a mid-week trip.

    Give yourself some wiggle room

If your plans are flexible, play around with some different travel dates – a shift of a few days either way can help you save big. Prices usually jump the weekends before and after popular holidays, so we recommend steering clear of them. Or consider visiting during the off-season, when prices are generally lower.

    Plan around big events

Are prices surprisingly high? There might be a huge conference or festival in town. Consider shifting your dates if you can. Of course, if that’s why you’re going, you’ll have to bite the bullet. We’ll still work to get you the best rates out there.

    Noodle over new adventures

Set aside time to plan what you want to see, taste and discover. Nothing completes a trip, big or small, like a few new experiences! Check city apps or area websites to find out what’s new and what events are happening during your stay. Even during a family reunion, you can detour to that locals-only fish taco stand or under-the-radar music club. Your cousins will be impressed.
