Kitley House Hotel

Kitley Estate, Plymouth - Map

"A night at Kitley "
Had personal reasons to choose this hotel, set in a luscious Estate we had high hopes. However the drive to the actual house needs an army truck to get down & in any way, was representative of the whole stay... tons of potential let down by the smallest of detail. Taking into account that the hotel is in the amazing house itself and that upkeep of such is no mean feat. The house, the reception ( with a real fire), the dining room (with a real fire) , the magnificant stairway and the room itself were all lovely and made the room just about value for money. But it was the little things that just took away the sparkle and edge to such a degree that it went from the potential for 5 star ratings from us to a 3 star. 1. The drive is almost un drive-able, and I was glad we had a high 4x4 car. Forget getting anything low down it.. a real minus for a first impression. 2. At least 3 cigarette butts directly outside the entrance to the house. ( Nothing against smoking and I know you can't control your guests, but it doesn't set a good 2nd impression after the drive...) 3. The bath plug in our room was very rusty and needs replacing. Keeping old features in good repair is hard but changing a bath is an option. 4. The room was good but no frills. 4. The dining room has a great view but the windows in the dinning room were dirty on the inside. 5. Staff were friendly, but not overly engaged and felt like you couldn't ask much more than the a basic level. 6. Breakfast is over overpriced.

Rose & Crown

Market Street, Plymouth - Map

"Sparkling new accomodation!"
I believe that the Rose & Crown has been added to the St Austell portfolio fairly recently, & the Rooms only in use for about 1 month at the time of our visit. Our room (3) was certainly impressive, for size, cleanliness & facilities, with the bathroom having both a built in shower & a separate free standing bath. The breakfasts wer excellent in terms of quality & variety, as were the evening menus. My only minor gripe was some small areas of skirting that were unfinished in the bathroom, & how the room will look after it's had more use. For example, the basin was not sealed to the wall. All in all, though, a very enjoyable experience.

"Ok"
It was very clean. The staff was very polite. The bed was very hard, my back didn't like it at all but I didn't go there to sleep. There was a TV just a little bigger then my iphone, but worked perfectly, as well as the wifi the cattle the shower... with a little attention to details it could become a 4 and more. Overall a great value for money and perfect for my purpose.

Hotwire will hook you up! From restful nights near your flight to that prime spot in the city’s heart, we’ve done our research to bring the best options to your fingertips. Book your Yealmpton hotel with us now and start your next adventure.

You’re not the average traveler — and we know it

You’ve done your homework and know exactly where you want to go. We’re here to help with some Hotwire travel geek-approved tips on how to save on your booking.

    Get away for the weekend

Hotels in bigger cities usually charge higher rates during the week, when people are traveling for business. Weekends can be a bargain! It’s the other way around for vacation spots, so if you’re looking for a beach escape, consider a mid-week trip.

    Give yourself some wiggle room

If your plans are flexible, play around with some different travel dates – a shift of a few days either way can help you save big. Prices usually jump the weekends before and after popular holidays, so we recommend steering clear of them. Or consider visiting during the off-season, when prices are generally lower.

    Plan around big events

Are prices surprisingly high? There might be a huge conference or festival in town. Consider shifting your dates if you can. Of course, if that’s why you’re going, you’ll have to bite the bullet. We’ll still work to get you the best rates out there.

    Noodle over new adventures

Set aside time to plan what you want to see, taste and discover. Nothing completes a trip, big or small, like a few new experiences! Check city apps or area websites to find out what’s new and what events are happening during your stay. Even during a family reunion, you can detour to that locals-only fish taco stand or under-the-radar music club. Your cousins will be impressed.
