The hotel is lovely and the location is great, both in terms of the immediate surrounds and the nearness to so many worthwhile destinations. The main problem we had was that the description on Hotels.com incorrectly says that even the cheapest rooms (Standard double room) has a fridge—it did not have one, which was a key reason we booked this room. When we asked at reception about this they seemed surprised (and suggested we upgrade to get a fridge), but didn't seem interested in fixing this incorrect information. So, don't trust the Hotels.com description of the room! But other than this the room was very nice.

The building was in a great location. a nice quiet square, just 5 minutes from the start of all the bars and restaurants. The room itself was nothing like the pictures. It was one small room only which contained the shower and the sink. there was no wardrobe or cupboard to put clothes and shoes. There was a single rail attached to a roof beam which had 6 clothes hangers. The most alarming problem, was the fact that there was no toilet. This was located on the landing which needed a separate key to open. This is not ideal when you wake up during the night and its dark and you need to locate the key before you can use the toilet. The room we was allocated, but looked nothing like the pictures, was located at the top of the building. Apparently, it was on the 3rd floor. But to get there, you had to walk up 5 small staircases, 55 steps in total. When we arrived, i did complain about the room and we was offered a different one in the basement, as long as we had used nothing in the room. Unfortunately in the 2 hours between sending my complaint and receiving the reply, we had unpacked and showered, rendering the room used. For the money we paid, the minimum you expect is an en-suite toilet.

The communication was terrible, we only got the code for the apartment access after we called the owner a few times. Even after he had picked up and said he was sending it, he still didn’t and we had to call him back again. This was all last minute. We had originally booked to stay in the bigger apartment but the owner sent a message on the app to say he had double booked us and were we happy to stay in a smaller apartment with a shared kitchen rather than a private one. We accepted after he promised a partial refund as i had no choice by then as it was too close to the stay. I am still waiting for that refund…. The place itself was clean, and it was fine for a 2 night stay whilst i had to attend a course. However, the parking was really full every day that we were there and awkward to even get into so ended up using the free off street parking. I wouldn’t use this property if you rely on the parking. Fine if you don’t have a car because you are close to everything you need. I will definitely not be using this owner again, he was absolutely terrible with customer service.

Disappointing stay. I have no idea how the layout of our room was signed off as a toilet directly opposite the bed and the window in line with the beds therefore shining light pollution directly on your face when you’re trying to sleep is an odd choice. The aircon shuts off automatically at midnight and you have to get up to turn it on. It is located directly opposite the beds and emits a night light until it turns off. We were really looking forward to breakfast but all the pastries and cooked food was either burnt and stone cold (sausages, mushrooms, all the pastries) or undercooked and stone cold (eggs, tomatoes). The fruit was nice though and the smoothies are a nice touch. Parking is a challenge. I’ve always loved the service at the Clayton in Chiswick and expected the same or better here as it’s a newer hotel but I wouldn’t stay again.
